‘Recall’ is @Debbauk's first experimental release  — a meandering soundscape with hints of the weighty breakbeat and distinctive vocal chops first portrayed in his Circular Jaw release back in 2019.

After completing his degree in sound production, the Staffordshire-born producer and DJ, Debba, quickly made a name for himself in the capital's underground scene. Fusing a dense, eerie style of UK techno, bass and breaks, Debba's attention to detail shines through with a new intricate sonic detail waiting to be uncovered with each listen.

@seven-hills-records is pleased to announce the next outing from Rob James & @burnskipower's new project, North Phase.

Comprising four brilliant, groove-laden tracks, the 'Cyclone' EP is one of their favourites so far. The title-track, 'Cyclone', bumps and rolls atop a sneaky bassline, and keeps you locked in with a unique, shifted synth hook. The similarly pumping 'Time Zone Unknown' keeps the groove straighter, with added gnarliness from a crisp synth line designed to cut its way to the centre of the dancefloor.

On the flip, the dark and super-heavy 'Room 1' spirals and builds before hitting hard with a chestplate bassline. The more lilting 'Groove Merchant' sits on the B2, slightly sci-fi and rounding things off in style.

French artist Trudge returns to Lobster Theremin with his debut LP No More Motivation arriving on March 18th with a genre-bending and original masterstroke; charged as it is cerebral. The album's concept points to the artist's tumultuous relationship with music; plagued by life events and the looming shadow of tragedy. That same relationship however, has led to an album of nuance, a cathartic whirlwind that pushes and pulls from one part of the psyche to the next.

From the laden house sounds found in his earlier work, to the hard-hitting emotive techno we hear today, both Trudges’ personal and artistic evolution runs parallel, drawing between the lines of introspection and dance music’s modern functionality.

Bangkok Radio kicks off proceedings with a reminiscent drive through the city's bustling landscape, as space unfolds the further we travel from the hustle and bustle of daily life. No Motivation, meaningless is a nod to the producer's headspace - burdened by the unpredictability of reality and it’s governing influence on art; echoing throughout the entire album.

Mazzomba explores the duality of light and dark; heavily submerged sounds can be heard melting below the surface, as airy synths create an ethereal glow - acting as our torch through the crud-infested trench. The album's interlude ‘Berserk’ provides a rest bite, an ambient dreamscape laced with deeply layered textures - casting warm fluorescent light amongst the clouds as balance is restored.

Tracks Dead Orange and Gradient demonstrate the artist's knact for intelligent sound-design and world-building soundscapes, while Unghosted and Punishments sees Trudge venture into raw and unwavering compositions created for the dance-floor.

Closing the album is Blue Ritual, a thought-provoking piece that has the ability to transport and heal. It’s introspective layers point to the changing winds to come - rounding off an album not binded by genre, but an eclecticism that characterizes an artist true to his craft.

It's been 4 years since I put out new music. Over lockdown I retreated fully, burnt out in many ways. It also coincided with a studio move and overhaul of my studio process. As I started to make music again, I instead focussed on the simple joy of creating with with zero thought about sharing it publicly. I have never enjoyed making music like I do now and I think it shines through in these tracks. This EP represents a new chapter for me and I am excited to share the rest of it as well as a bunch more music over the next 12 months.

'Never Enough' is the first single to be taken from 'Fragments of Us,' the 13-track debut album from DJ/Producer Midland.  The album will arrive in stores physically in Vinyl, CD & Tape format and across all digital and streaming outlets on October 4th, 2024. The album comes via Midland’s own imprint, Graded. The cover art is a photo by his brother Dom Agius, and the type and graphics are by longtime friend and designer, Nick Shea. 

The album features the voices of some Midland’s artistic heroes including Marlon Riggs, David Wojnarowicz alongside the contemporary voices of Stereogamus’ Jonny Seymour and Horse Meat Disco’s Luke Howard.

Anja Schneider’s Sous imprint has fast become a permanent home for Anja’s more experimental productions as well as providing her with the chance to bring some of her favourite artists to the label. In the last two years, we have enjoyed releases from Billy Turner, Madben, Mella Dee, Fort Romeau and most recently Markus Suckut. All of which have collectively bought a diverse palette of music to Sous.

Asio (aka R-Play) is a Parisian based producer who’s career quickly became noted in 2007 after he broke into the French techno scene with his tracks signed to Harthouse, Synewave and Suara. Anja brings this new name to Sous this October with 3 original cuts on his EP ‘Dada’.  Opening things is the title track ‘Dada’. Instantly we’re drawn into a groovy deep bass track with sparse percussion. As the various layers reveal themselves, a sinister energy grows. The track then explodes into life at the drop. ‘Last Day in Space’ is a subtle tribal groove. Swinging off beat hats keep time as the layers of melody and percussion fade into earshot. A track of light and dark where patience is rewarded by a huge payoff. 

Finally, ‘Sol Sol’ employs interesting FX to the drums creating a wonky feel from the off. Once the synths kick in the wonk gets much wonkier!
