After the last part of the corpora trilogy and the "Paralyzed" EP by label owner Sciahri, Sublunar is delighted to introduce a new artist into their family.

For the last decade, Calum Lee AKA Paleman has steadily built a powerful catalogue of releases showcasing his unique percussive and textural take on electronic music. In 2020 he launched a new alias ‘Fresnel Lens’ that showcases his film scoring work and more experimental, explorative personal works running alongside his continuing work as Paleman. 

After 2021’s self-released PLMN005, 2 Fresnel Lens albums and a short film OST, Paleman turns to Florence based Sublunar Records in 2022 for his next release and longest work to date - ‘Veiled’. The release encapsulates a considered and focused writing process informed by rhythm, momentum, abstract moods and a desire for tangible visceral sound design orbiting techno, UK experimental electronic music, and early electronics. 

‘Veiled’ begins with a statement of precision, opener Bite gallops into action with polyrhythmic vactrol loops and grainy incisive modular sound design. The LP moves through moods, spaces and tempos arriving at the distilled and appropriately named ‘Mandible’ that chews into the previous tracks' themes with a stumbling urgency and an insectoid textural palette. Veiled feels like the culmination of a decade of Paleman works, a collection of tracks and merged sonics that represents his experiments, his club focused minimal works and his more recent explorations on PLMN and as ‘Fresnel Lens’ with drone, experimental and cinematic work. ‘Veiled’ paves the way for a new decade for Paleman, condensed and focused, whilst simultaneously expressive, experimental and free.

Liane 

Recently relocated to Amsterdam, Liane already had a debut set at De School. She was born in Jerusalem where she explored her sound and quickly positioned as a resident in the underground club Pergamon, playing among the best of the best.
Shortly after, she was a regular of Tel Aviv’s techno scene and started building momentum all over Europe. For the past year, she is hosting and curating a monthly show at RRFM called Roaming Edges, played her debut set in Tbilisi, and performed in clubs and raves around Amsterdam and Tel Aviv.

Her mixes are constructed by layers of deep, dark, and industrial techno characterized by crushed kicks that create a distorted fog of noisy textures with an experimental edge. She aims to develop an immersive and dynamic experience that delves into an emotional depth, while constantly keeping a rolling flow that shatters and reforms. Il suo pattern musicale ha radici in terre sonore tanto disparate quanto complementari nella loro visione d'insieme. Questo suo versatilismo, affiancato ad eseprienze più personali come dieci anni di canto corale, emergono tangibilmente nell'eterogeneità con cui caratterizzza i propri set. Dai ritmi tribali del Sud America, sua terra d'origine, all'affezionato basso cui non manca mai una sfumatura in continua evoluzione, spaziando dall'acid all'electro.
Questo è il set che Yamila ci ha regalato come breve ma intenso assaggio di ciò che ci aspetta il sabato pomeriggio al Komorebi Music Festival.

The week begins with Yamila, resident of the Closer collective, a globetrotter in visiting, tasting, and embracing the most disparate realities of the scene.
Her musical pattern has roots in sound lands that are as disparate as they are complementary in their overall vision. This versatility of his, alongside experiences such as ten years of singing in a choir, tangibly emerge in the heterogeneity with which she characterizes her sets. 
From the tribal rhythms of South America, his homeland, to the affectionate bass that never misses a constantly evolving nuance, ranging from acid to electro.
This is the set that Yamila gave us as a short but intense taste of what awaits us on Saturday afternoon at the Komorebi Music Festival.
