Originally created by singer songwriter guitarist and producer Louie My, Canadian trio Tiger On The Moon is primarily a live band composed of Anne Mi Fortin on Bass and Tamara Taddeo on Keyboards. Their live act has been described  as a "Big Beautiful Sound", They blend guitars and analog electronics with psychedelic tales of fall and redemption in a cinematic mix of Alternative Rock, Dance beats, Dub, and ambient Americana.

The second of Alma Negra’s 12 Rhythms Series is dedicated to the Maloya sound from La Réunion, a tiny island where a melting pot of cultures is reflected strongly in its music. Maloya’s roots go back to the time of slavery, its quick tempo and raw energy making it not only a popular dance music but also a powerful protest through movement.
On their Maloya EP, the Basel collective pay tribute to the hypnotic rhythms that were feared both by the Catholic Church and the French government for the musical form’s subversive part in the rebellion against colonialism.
The release revolves around two contrasting Alma Negra re-workings of Lindigo’s Tany Be. The first takes a classic call & response structure in 12/8 and 6/8 rhythms, adding a driving bass line and guitar licks. A solid 909-kick locks things in step, along with a sax flourish and FM synths. Their re-imagining of African and Tamil influences for modern dancers is a triumphant manifestation of the music’s origins.
With the main reworking focusing on a rolling dance floor groove, the Dub Mix concentrates on trance-inducing aspect of Maloya. Using a modular set up to pick apart layers of percussion, it is a dense and heady trip into the spirit world.
The B side focuses on Christine Salem, one of today's stars of the Maloya scene. Without wanting to squeeze the soul from her deep tones, Kabaré is slowed down a notch, with drums added sparingly. This sensitive treatment gives the track just enough weight and tension to punch in on todays dance floors without losing the intent of the original.
The source material for this EP has been road tested from the very beginning of Alma Negra’s journey. The collective have gone to great lengths to ensure the original creators are on board with their treatment of their music and are honoured to be given the chance to distil their own ethos into a record that is bubbling with today’s dance floor drive. Their reverent treatment aims to preserve the power and beauty of the source material, to bring uncovered gems to a new audience.

Don Mescal bring you on a unique musical voyage, combining a myriad of styles from Folktronica, Rub-a-Dub, Jungle & Tribal flavors in a joyfully flamboyant vibe.
About this track:
I got inspired from a little Wind Charm that I found in a junkyard sale in Reno. The sound was so delicate and calming that I wanna to make something out of it.
So, I started sampling it and from it emerged an idea of tribal and oriental sound with angelic voices. I knew at this moment that my good friend Swa Swally will be the perfect element with his powerful voice. I  already played a few times with him and I knew that one day we would collaborate on a project. Once the track was over, I felt something was missing and I wanna to add some real acoustic instrument. For that part I asked my friend Briga who is an amazing violin performer. And to put all this magic together, I want to say thank you to Felipe, my Cosmovision partner, for his help in the production.
The final step was to find the name of the track, then i thought about the thematic of the compilation " Elements of these Lands " and i immediately think about my friend Marie-Stephane Asselin from "Safran des Neiges" who cultivate Safran here in Labelle, Quebec.  Azafrán which means Safran in spanish couldn't be a better choice to name this track et voilà.

We started as a group of music producers in Montréal, immigrants from Latin America, Europe and friends from Canada, we wanted to reinterpret the elements of this land, from North America such as: nature, native cultures, artistic forms and others. This woke a great interest from artists from all over the world, thing that finally lead to our compilation ¨Element of These Lands¨, in plural, adding a big tribe of friends from all over the world which today are part of our artistic essence, a multi cultural collective.

Our proposal is to make music that evokes respect and consciousness about nature, which understand our cultural differences as a great value for us. We look to go beyond the act of pushing buttons to create digital music, on the other side, we want to inspire ourselves as a collective and invite to reflect about the elements of our land, elements that sometimes western culture forgets, but through art we can analyze, reinterpret and value.

Our first compilation has cultural influences from: Canada, Mexico, France, Chile, Turkey, Belgium, Colombia, Lebanon, Switzerland, Italy and Argentina. 
We want to thank all the producers evolved in this compilation and our artist Mathieu Bories, visual genius of our collective; also everyone who have believed in us and never forgetting you, the people who download and share these voices which are echoes from the land itself, that through artists sing to us to generate awareness of our roots and the elements of our land.
