This is a jazz world! …all the international jazz you always wanted to hear and nobody ever played for you!

Mondo Jazz is dedicated to the proposition that jazz is a language that originated in the US but is now spoken all over the world in various, at times very strong, accents and dialects, which make it a rich resource for rewarding sonic explorations. Needless to say there will be plenty of US jazz on my program, in an attempt to show the continuity that exists between the US and the international jazz scenes.

Dance, No One's Watching - the new album from Mercury Prize winners Ezra Collective, is an ode to the sacred, yet joyous act of dancing. The album musically guides you through a night out in the city, from the opening of possibilities as a new evening spans out ahead, to dawn’s final hours as the night comes to a close. 

Written during a blistering 2023 which saw Ezra Collective tour the world, and become the first jazz act to win the Mercury Prize, Dance, No One's Watching is a documentation of the many dance floors they encountered. From London to Chicago, Lagos to Sydney, dance and rhythm connect us. These songs are a testament to that spirit.

Tim is a saxophonist, composer and bandleader. His work encompasses free improvisation, grooves, composition, traditional music and creating music for outdoor celebration and performances. Tim leads the band Tongues of Fire in its many incarnations as plays in several other groups including Alex Wards Predicate
