This story, frankly, is unbelievable. A few weeks ago, we went through many demos on a Sunday evening, and while we appreciate every submission we get, not all of them are home runs. This Sunday was something special, however. We ended up signing five or six solid records, and then, just before calling it a day, we received an email from Ukraine. 

We took a look at a record named 'Groove' by this guy Screechy. Within the first two bars, we were sold on it. We got a hold of this guy within the first two minutes after hearing the record. We loved the creativity behind this record and knew we wanted to push this for him, and we offered him a place on one of our Dimes samplers. 

Then the war broke out. 

We knew we had to do something. And Ilya, being the unbelievable bad-ass he is, kept creating even though his country was and continues to be at war. He sent us the b-side: 'Ah Yeah' from his shelter. Insane. We knew we had to put this record out right away to do something for him. One hundred percent of this record's profits will be given to Ilya.

1. When did you start making music?
I've been writing and making music my whole life! I used to bang on random keys on the piano and pretend to play guitar... with my parents filming me on an old VHS camera. Eventually I started taking piano & guitar lessons, as well as singing in choir & vocal jazz. I started making beats in 8th grade on Garageband, FL, and Audacity, upgrading to Ableton Live in high school and was part of the beatmaking club. I love all genres of music and I've written and produced songs in tons of different styles over the years.

2. What makes YOU Qwerky?
I love unconventional contemporary art, dancing, frogs, cartoons, and being part of a team that values individuality and inclusivity. 

3. If you were a cartoon character, who would you be?
Definitely Scooby-Doo, I'm a confident and food-obsessed talking Great Dane that's also a scaredy-cat at times.

4. What’s your favorite sound?
I love cheesy sounds. I like when music makes you feel uncomfortable or gives you permission as an artist to use sounds that may instinctually seem unuseable in contemporary music - like corny FM synthesis sounds, a cheap nylon guitar, or garagey vocals.

5. You’re making dinner at your house… what’s on the menu?
This is a very difficult question because I'm like a human trash compactor... Today I'm craving Julia Child's beef bourguignon with garlic butter mashed potatoes. 

6. Who are 3 people you’d invite? (from any time period)

Snoozing the Music from Plants C1 is a 4-track EP that explores the frontier of post-digital music creation, where organic, biological inputs merge with artificial intelligence under the careful guidance of human curation. This project serves as a practical application of the Sergej Snooze current research. analyzing the intersection of objective data, technical execution, and emergent aesthetic patterns.

The Creative Process: A Fusion of Three Intelligences. This EP is a genuine act of co-creation involving three distinct stages of intelligence:

The Bio-Generated Signal (Nature as Input): The entire foundation of this EP began with the raw, bio-generated electrical signals captured directly from a plant. This original sound, recorded as an audio sample ("Music from Plants"), provides the organic, evolving lead melody and core timbre that drives all four tracks. It is the initial, non-human data input.
The AI Interpreter (The Socio-Technical System): The raw plant signal was fed into Suno AI, a sophisticated generative music platform.

The Human Curator (The Emergent Pattern Analyzer): The crucial final—and most time-consuming—step was human curation. From dozens of AI-generated iterations and extensions, the best four tracks were selected based on their ability to elicit the desired output that suits Sergej Snooze public appearance in terms of music expression  This highlights a key finding: in a post-digital world, human selection and curation are as vital to the creative process as the initial generation of the music itself.

A Research-Driven Release
Ultimately, Snoozing the Music from Plants C1 is not just a collection of songs; it is a sonic experiment demonstrating that meaningful, impactful art emerges from the dynamic interplay between biological life, powerful algorithms, and critical human decision-making.

Almost Like We Met is an independent electronic music record label and management company based in Minneapolis, MN. The brand was founded in January 2024 by Tom Kench and Pia Bayetti. Under the management of artist Guzbass, the brand specializes in a unique genre of house music characterized by its peculiar, funky, and quirky elements.

According to Tom Kench, the name emphasizes the idea that when a listener connects deeply with a song, it feels as if they've almost met the artist, sharing similar emotions. Additionally, the label has a subsidiary venture called Almost Doesn't Matter, venturing into the realm of left field music.
