I am primarily a pianist, but I do compose a bit in my free time. Compositions are especially influenced by game and film composers such as Jeremy Soule, Garry Schyman, Gareth Coker, Danny Elfman, Howard Shore, Joe Hisaishi, Jessica Curry, and Daniel Rosenfeld.

Jason Palamara is a performer/sound artist from New Jersey living and teaching in Indiana. He teaches electronic music and composition at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis.  He also has teaching experience from Indiana Wesleyan University, Butler University, Indiana State University, Grinnell College, The University of Iowa, and The University of Louisville and ten million other places. He has composed music for many dance, film and theater projects, and specialized in new music technologies, collaboration and improvisation.  He was a founder of LOUi, the Laptop Orchestra at the University of Iowa and is currently building the world's first laptop orchestra made of 100% recycled machines, #trashchestra. He is also one half of the electro-acoustic sax and violin and laptops duo JC//jp with Iowa composer-musician Justin Comer. Hi, I'm Al Johnston,

I'm a composer/trombonist. I'm building a body of work and would like to share it with the fine musicians and connoisseurs of classical music here. The refined taste of participants here is what I need as a sounding board to help me improve my technique.

I have completed a symphonic suite, 3 concerti, 4 grand piano sonatas (of a projected 6), 2 piano trios, and several sonatas for solo instrument. You can find these on Soundcloud, on my Google+ channel, or on my Youtube channel, Novaclassica. Perhaps take a moment to express what you feel about my work.

Maybe you think that mock-ups suck. I quite agree, but I find them useful (to a point) to convey immediately the sense of my music. In the mean time, I strive to improve how mine sound realizing it is just a mock-up and doesn't replace live performance (nor should it).

Maybe you think the music isn't original enough. Just know that I strive to explore trails blazed by those before, yet do so in order to uncover the treasures of my own soul. Not convinced? Listen to the BBC documentary by Howard Goodall "Twentieth Century Greats: The Beatles" (search for it on Youtube).

Maybe you don't like the concerto form, thinking that it seems pretty dated. However, in this new century electronically produced media (i.e cinema) is battling to draw out an audience unwilling to leave their homes just to sit somewhere else and watch a screen. But live performance still wows people and, in my opinion, as film theaters continue to lose customers live concerts have become set to thrive once more. It remains a fact that people are just attracted and drawn out to watch a master musician out front on stage playing their heart out, while being backed-up and supported by surrounding players.

So I'm optimistic about the future of concert music. That's why I'm writing it. Whatever you want to comment, please do.

My music is available for playing in sheet music form. The all but one of audios you hear on sound cloud are merely realizations of sibeius 7 sounds playback. Some pieces have been played live before, but as I am seldom happy with my work 100%  I revise after a live hearing or working with a player.  Minimalism has proven a big influence in my younger years, and still does as far as metric accent shifts, but I do not repeat as much . I tend to get to my point immediately or not at all.
  I look to Bach and Steve Recih for theory ,voice leading. I ignore serialism, but I am not above experimenting with pantonalism, but in  late bebop era type of fashion.
 Charles Ives, David Byrne and Frank Zappa, are great heroes in self education. My style changes from piece to piece ,depending on the person I am writing for or the subject matter.
