The path to greatness is never an easy one. Maybe that’s because in order to achieve greatness you must first overcome things which justify carrying the title. In a triumphant victory over adversity AL-NYCE has emerged as an undeniable talent who will lead the resurgence of New York rap and solidify his position as a great in the making.
AL’s artistic lineage is intertwined with some of hip hop’s elite. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, the only boy with 5 female siblings, he is Brooklyn to the core.  At a very young age, he first became interested in music when his dad would play hip hop records from the old school rappers like Slick Rick and Big Daddy Kane challenging him to create raps of his own.  His father insisted that he put together recordings of his favorite songs from the radio to compete with his own original music accumulating in a weekly contest to determine the best songs of the week; a fun exercise that turned out to be a very creative formulation of very own unique rhyme style.
In October of 2004, Al was working closely with the legendary multi-platinum producers Tone and Poke of TrackMasters when his life decided to take its most interesting twist yet. He almost lost his life due to a ruptured brain aneurysm. Miraculously, he overcame his injuries, and his ensuing operation, in three weeks. Fresh out of surgery he remarked with his trademark sarcasm, “My head is killing me, if I didn’t know better I would think I had 40 staples in my head”…… and he did.  That is the measure of the man.
Al’s musical influences vary widely and especially include artists’ that grew up in Brooklyn such as BIG,Jay Z, M.O.P, and Busta Rhymes.  Al’s personal playlist for his own listening pleasure include greats the likes of Nas, Jay Z, and Notorious BIG in addition to artists like Eminem, Drake, Lil Wayne, 50 cent and Rick Ross.  When it comes to his “Sounds-Like” category, the biggest comparison yet is Jay Z.
One thing is for sure; the unique original raps of AL-NYCE come from both within and without.  Using his life as a reference point for everything he accomplishes musically, his music comes from personal experience along with events he has witnessed.  Both equally influence his music.
As an artist with extreme values, Al was recently asked if he can retain his artist integrity while gaining increased commercial success.  Responding quickly Al stated “My personal belief is that you can have one without compromising the other.  So, as far as I’m concerned no, I won’t have to compromise my integrity to continue to maintain my relevancy in the music industry or my commercial success”.
Recently signed to the elite independent record label Armoni Records out of Columbus, GA and New York in 2013, Al’s career is set to take off big in 2014.  His first single release on Armoni “Alternate Reality” has taken off and is on a positive course to chart.  It has already received radio play in Europe, Japan, and on the prestigious Jeff Foxx Radio Show.  Previous independent releases from AL-NYCE include a 2012 mixtape entitled “Let me Hold Something”, a 2012 single release “The Window”, and the 2013 Mixtape entitled “The Passion of Nyce”.  Al is currently in the studio recording his next single and upcoming album for Armoni Records due to be released later this year.
