Tremendous long cloud collossuses roll above humanity's heads with an unbelievable speed at the north Australian Gulf of Carpentaria during spring time. This special event is never forgotten by the ones who experienced this huge and very unique spectacle.

Most humans tend to forget where their roots really originate. But once in a while nature comes up with new events like this to remind us where we really come from. Our physical bond with this planet will never break, since we all turn into soil as soon as we leave our bodies.
To intensify our understanding of it, this compilation series looks into several special nature phenomenas and let various artists of different disciplines make an interpretation with their own picture of the phenomena in their individual creative language.

The whole creative concept is based on the principal of the ‚Chinese Whispers‘ game.
So Kwasu Tembo (writer and musician) started the whole process with a lyrical text about this phenomenon which was passed on to four visual artists - Dycide, MTRL, Ohneweil and Polygonia.
Each of them created an artwork based on their synaesthetical impression of Kwasu's words, and after that, were handed to the musicians Foreign Material, Infinity, Javier Marimon and Olorun. These artists crafted four auditive masterpieces arising from their visual impression of the digital designs. Synaesthesia is a very powerful tool to grasp coherences which are not easily explained. It can create inner feelings and associations on the observer‘s side, which are much more accurate than any scientific explanation.

Guided Meditation for Sleep

Environmental music concert, as part of the 'Freshwater Listening' weekend in central Victoria, Nov 2018. 

Music is the state of listening and attention we find ourselves in - both performers and audience - during a performance. The usual attributes of music - melodies, lyrics, rhythms, a song, a score - are unnecessary in sharing a collective experience of deep listening and aesthetic engagement.

This improvised concert featured recordings of local aquatic insects and frogs, live mixed by Leah Barclay. Acclaimed sound artist Ros Bandt (who initiated the event) played her marvellous Tarhu and Greek Lyre, and Vicki Hallett her clarinet. Ros passed additional instruments and sound-making items around the audience, so it was an inclusive and spontaneous affair. Local poet Berni Janssen responded by reading short excerpts from her work, while someone angled a small harp aeolian fashion in the occasional breeze to get its strings singing. The centrepiece was one of Ros's sonic water sculptures, which dripped and splashed throughout, trickles of water ringing in musical ways off metal dishes. Meanwhile, the local magpies carolled, weebill and pardalote song drifted down from the treetops, dogs barked, planes flew overhead and community life went on around us.

Akhira Sano's  Penetrating, For Filtration was manufactured on C60 Super Ferro tape for a low noise floor, high output, and an incredible warm sound. Packaged in a purple tinted case with silver shimmer printing. 

Japan's Akhira Sano is a young master of slow, ambient, electro new age music. His compositions are highly organic, growing and flowing with great patience and care. But, like in nature, imperfections and incidentals are allowed to evolve producing sublimely primal and imperfect music. In a world where everything can be made perfect, Sano's work is deliciate, shimmering and electric; abolishing and preserving time simultaneously. 

Sano creates painterly music (he is also a painter) based on the themes of error and constraint. He is a visionary sonic architect who sees his musical structures as incomplete; always unfinished. His debut on Sun Ark Records in 2019 was very well received and his demo for Imprec was immediate and compelling. Lose yourself in these two long tape sides on the second official release from Akhira Sano.

Aloïs Yang is a media artist, performer and experimental musician. His work is influenced both by scientific reference and human imperfection of understanding the nature, and investigates the perception of time and space on both “outer” physical world and “inner” metaphysical levels of awareness – as a manifestation of how we contextualise the overlapping realities in between body and mind, objective explanation and subjective projection, analogue and digital, certainty and unknown.

He aims to engage viewer’s sensation and comprehension to the given moment of reality, portrayed by experiential phenomena and existential ideas – as an invitation to an incomplete journey waiting to be explored by active, participatory, intimate interactions that incorporate individual’s consciousness as the piece itself.
