Introducing our new EP series 'Nuggets': Here at Goldfat we're always digging for gold, and for our first EP in the series we have unearthed four precious nuggets from four stellar artists.

First up it’s the return of Athena with ‘Bayside Groove’. From the opening note, we’re instantly transported to a waterside scene with the sound of waves, gulls, chatter and playful laughter. Flutes gently flutter, a saxophone teases and an acoustic guitar is plucked with a carefree attitude. Drums anchor the jazzy vibes into place before we’re treated to some extra funky double bass.

As you probably know by now, we’re keen on promoting both bigger and smaller names alike. And our latest digital release, 19th in the catalogue (time flies, doesn’t it?), is themed with some new blood. The recent addition to our digital portfolio comes from a young producer duo from Ukraine – Pluton & Skyer. They have been making music for some time now (releasing, among others, on Cymbalism Recordings, Hospital Records, Influenza Media, Viper Recordings, Kos.Mos.Music), and familiar with their talent, we’re honoured to have them release their newest EP entitled “Lead Me On” via our label. The four-track compilation is an exciting mixture of a few different shades of drum & bass, ranging from the deeper, more subtle and atmospheric, vocal-infused “Lead Me On” (feat. Grimm), through the rolling and broken-beated “Screen Out Of Nowhere” or the upbeat, synth-laden “Run Free” (with an excellent vocal contribution by the legendary Dynamite MC), ending with the dancefloor-oriented, powerful “Automatic Forms” characterized by rich percussion sounds and an overwhelming bassline. We’re sure that this EP is something to please both those who’re after something sharper and those looking for something rather gentler. Top quality stuff, delivered in the form of a captivating cross-sectional four-tracker.

Med School’s master of melodic drum & bass bliss, Etherwood returns with his 6-track release ‘Lost In The Right Direction’. Since his third album ‘In Stillness’ Etherwood has been travelling through western Europe in his converted camper, breathing in the inspiration that the French hills of Munster and German hikes through Tennenloher Forest have to offer. Alongside his own vocal performance he’s brought in the talents of New Zealand’s singer/songwriter Thomas Oliver, as well as Brighton-based Phoebe Freya.

As an alchemist of atmospherics, Etherwood has introduced a blissful collaboration with Hospital family favourite, Thomas Oliver on ‘See The Sky’. His soaring high notes across Etherwood’s serene beats and moving riffs drive through for a powerful, heart-wrenching drum & bass ballad.

‘Clouds’ is a treat for the senses from start to finish, shimmering D+B soul comes equipped with a moving vocal lead from Phoebe Freya, gentle keys and gorgeous guitar solos. Plus, Etherwood brings through his warm vocal tones on ‘Driving Out’ and ‘The Night’, the latter steering into down-tempo trip-hop territory.

In this sonic re-imagining of his travels and experiences throughout the world are the hypnotic liquid instrumentals ‘Lulerain’, packed with accents of east-asian instrumentation, and ‘Away From It All’, that calls back to Etherwood’s signature sound.

Teaming up with New Zealand based singer/songwriter, and no stranger to Hospital Records, Thomas Oliver brings his infectiously enlivening vibe to ‘Sunflowers’. Pulsing sub basses, crisp breaks and a warm piano pair perfectly with the blissful vocals of Thomas Oliver. Other notable collaborations on the album include Whiney & Ebson on ‘Unreachable’, Etherwood on the well-received single ‘Fall Beneath You’ and rising star Telomic on ‘Listen Close’.

Keeno’s dedication to crafting his own unique sound has not gone unnoticed. His remarkable productions have been supported by esteemed tastemakers, including a ‘Self-Certified Selection’ from MistaJam on BBC Radio 1, plays from Rene LaVice and his music being aired across the UK airwaves from 1Xtra to 6Music.
