I’m so so so proud of how Suffocate turned out. When first producing Suffocate, I was getting frustrated trying out different iterations, chord progressions, and song structures. But it all clicked when I decided to combine two different drops into one song. The musical arc, as it naturally progresses from the first melodic bass drop to the second pop punk drop, is anchored by Medyk’s incredibly beautiful vocals and songwriting. We hope you get the chance to listen to Suffocate in its entirety because we couldn’t be happier with the song we’ve made 💙✨☁️

[Behind The Track]

Welcome to the sixtieth-fifth release of Launch Records. This time we have a new track by Guy Didden, called ‘Freedom’. 

The song starts immediately with a catchy melody within the background chords. These chords are following the melody. The melody at the beginning of the track is the same melody as the melody at the drop of the track. Some atmospheric sounds are added to this melody and background chords to give more body to this part. After a while, a drum loop together with a baseline is added. This baseline follows the background chords. The chords remain the same as at the start of the track. As soon as the melody changes, the drum loop gets an uplifting rhythm. At this moment the build-up starts.

When the drop hits, the track is transforming into a powerful future house track. In this drop, you hear the same melody which was used at the beginning of the track but now it has a second more deep melody line beneath it. In this drop, you hear a lot of different sounds and melodies, but Guy Didden achieved to make it one unity. At some parts of the drop, the main melody stops and a different melody with other sounds starts. To give more body to the drop, a deep baseline is added in the background which has a slightly different rhythm as the melody line. To give more atmosphere to the drop a drum is added in the background as well. Hereby all sounds which are used are self-designed.

All these aspects which are used in the track make the track a real Launch release. We are very happy to have a release with Guy Didden who has developed a really unique rhythm and vibe in his tracks. Hereby he developed all of his sounds himself.
