DJ, producer and co-founder of Cowbell Radio Ed Mahon joins the Feinstoff Edit Series with his take on New Order's timeless classic.


Ed is a DJ and producer from the North of England with a strong house music background stretching back to the early 90s. Equally at home playing acid house chuggers, straight up house, disco edits or Balearic beats, he is a Festival regular, DJing all over the world, and an in-demand guest mixer. 

Production-wise his recordings and remixes have seen releases on labels such as Tici Taci, Paper, Sprechen, Nein, Hot Digits, Emerald & Doreen, Higher Love, Alpaca, Eclectics and more.

Ed is also co-founder of Cowbell Radio, an acclaimed underground radio station since 2011 and is a key part of the Alfresco Festival, he also hosts a weekly live stream on 16Loop.com

I’m back with a rework of another all-time cut, Pet Shop Boys’ It’s A Sin. 
As someone coming from Eastern Europe I’ve been a bit overexposed to Chris & Niel’s discography because of their Go West hit, which overflooded the region in the 90’s (though it was originally a Village People song, not related to the Cold War). 
Yet, as my previous cover (New Order’s Blue Monday), this song has been haunting me for years and I couldn’t help but do something with it. While trying to respect their original intent, I tried to give it a current sound. Once more, the original multitrack session files have been made available, which is a blessing. 
Enjoy it, download it, spin it to entertain your beloved audience. 
The cover art is inspired by John Carpenter’s Prince of Darkness (1987), released the same year.

Zaratustra returns to Feinstoff with a pounding alteration of Front 242's Headhunter. The Paris-based DJ/Producer thrives in Indie Dance and Dark Disco genres. Lately, with his latest "White Magic" EP on Ulla Records and releases to come on the Parisian label Skylax Records, he has been blending rock instruments with electronic rhythms, focusing on 80s-like vocals and electric guitars. Other releases are expected on indie dance labels such as Quixotical Records, Mélopée Records, Nubians of Plutonia, Club Mackan … As a DJ, he likes to take the audience on a dark and mysterious journey. 

The present edit is Zaratustra’s take on his favourite band: the EBM lords Front 242. The track is a tribute to 80s music, with a filthy bassline, powerful guitar and old-school synths!

Alex Aguayo is a producer from Mexico, who experiments with different genres within electronics.
Its sound can vary from slow rhythms and darker vibes to more harmonious and energetic melodies with italo and space style synthesizers.
Some of his tracks have been supported by several prominent artists on the scene such as; Tronik Youth, Italo Brutalo, Badknife, Lieutenant Castillo, Mufti, Aimes, Craig Bratley, Young Drums, Roe Deers, Local Suicide, Pola, Thomas Baanks, Did Virgo, Alex Niggemann, James Rod, etc.
 
His most recent releases have been on labels like Night Noise, Rotten City and Aeon and a lot of new material is expected for this year and 2021 with some other great labels.
He is also part of the Mexican collective "Diseva" along with other producers, dj's and friends.

about the edit : "Since I was a kid 80´s and 90´s  had and still have a lot of impact on my influences in music, this is one of my favourite 80´s tracks and  I didn't want to make an edit of it but I really wanted to add this to my sets and after playing around with the track and added some strings I liked the idea of finishing a full edit of this track and I am really happy with the result."

Also Playable Mono is a DJ and producer from Warsaw. He started DJing in 1999 but his music journey started back in the 80s, when he was growing up. Resident DJ for many clubs in the city, 

He started producing music in 1998. Along the years he used various aliases due to all the music genres he was involved in, from deep house and house to nu disco, funky and soul, from synth pop and nu romantic to italo disco.

 In 2015 after some break he decided to become more active on italo disco field again. He relaunched his 1980s related label under a new name and started to produce remixes and his own tracks inspired by 80s electronic music. 

He has remixed and produced for Italoconnection, Savage, Peter Wilson, Eddy Huntington, Mike Mareen, Fancy, Fred Ventura, Knight$, Kristian Conde and produced for labels Flashback Records and ZYX Music.

about the edit : " First of all, I always wanted to remix "Enjoy The Silence" since the day of its release. It's one of the most important songs of my life. This italo idea of a remix was playing in my head already for a few years. I started makin' it in 2019. I put first elements together, like kick, snare and bassline and then left the project for other things. 30 anniversary was a great opportunity to finally show it to the world, so I focused on this remix only on one of september's weekends and finally here it is. Enjoy."
