Doug Hream Blunt learnt to play music at the age of 35, by taking an adult class in the late 1980s. The class was organized by a high school music teacher and his wife, and held in their small garage in the Golden Gate Park neighborhood of San Francisco. The other students of the class became Doug’s band members, while his teacher joined on vibes, and his wife on bass. To promote his music, Doug would play acoustic, solo shows for patients and elderly people at a hospital where he worked as a nurse’s aid. On a few occasions, he also brought the other students together to play on the City Visions Public Access television show.

Au fil des 6 morceaux de son premier EP nommé "Incipit", c'est avec simplicité et douceur que Segen met des mots sur ce qui l'habite, la transporte, la révolte ou la réjouit : les messages sulfureux envoyés et reçus au milieu de la nuit, mais aussi les obstacles sociétaux qu'elle doit affronter en tant que femme racisée, et l'affirmation de soi face aux gens toxiques que la vie nous impose parfois,
et contre lesquels on doit apprendre à se défendre seul.e.s.

Plus de deux ans de travail ont été nécessaires pour mener à bien
ce projet, qui explore les frontières entre R'n'B, Soul, Pop et Rap, tout en cherchant à s'affranchir des règles et principes
un peu rigides de la chanson française. Avec la complicité de Goon Kid et de DJ Raze, Segen nous fait découvrir un monde à peine exploré, celui d'un R'n'B en français aux couleurs vaporeuses, qui inspire la liberté et agit comme un pansement pour le coeur et l'âme.

Avec "Incipit", Segen montre qu'elle est déjà une artiste aussi accomplie que mature : la musique qu'elle propose respire l'authenticité et l'originalité, et dévoile une personnalité à la fois forte et touchante, sensible et riche, qui veut soigner le monde à l'aide de sa propre vulnérabilité.

bio en français (english follows below): Je suis un DJ, photographe, j'anime une émission de radio et je suis archiviste d'art et de musique basé à Moncton, Nouveau-Brunswick, Canada. Je suis un bâtisseur et facilitateur de la scène underground depuis plus de vingt ans. Par l'entremet de mon émission de radio La Photo Sonore (sur les ondes de CODIAC CKUM 93.5fm à l'Université de Moncton) je partage ma passion pour les arts et la musique avec acharnement. En plus d'être un chroniqueur de la scène artistique et culturel c'est les arts et la musique qui me garde aller avec ferveur. toujours en photo et musique. 

I'm a DJ, photographer, radio show host, music & arts archivist.  I'm based out Moncton, New Brunswick(Canada).  Longtime scene maker, supporter and facilitator of the canadian underground east coast music scene. I host a weekly radio show called La Photo Sonore on CODIAC CKUM 93.5FM (Université de Moncton) as well as host monthly dance parties called IPN with BONES all over the east coast of Canada.  I've also been a music and arts scene reporter for various shows on CBC and Radio Canada in the past.... music and the arts are what keep me going.
