With my Rhythm Control mix I wanted to explore a slightly different sound than what people know me for in clubs, and create something that sounds timeless. I've drawn inspiration from different places in time and different styles, and I saw this as a way for me to collect into one place all of those more eclectic influences that continue to inspire me. Most of all this is a mix of slow jams and indie rock to bring some heat in on those cold cold winter nights.

Jasper Wijnands AKA Shook is the dream-funk space-disco producer who hails from Cybertron, Antarctica (according to his Soundcloud bio). Cybertron seems like a pretty apt home for this Dutch singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who finds himself leading the spaceway in the modern funk and disco scene amongst wash of Nile Rodgers/Daft Punk popups. This is the soundtrack to your cosmic voyage, press play and travel to outer space. 

"Here is a mix of songs & sounds that I compiled, mixed, matched and edited a little bit :). Some are from a different time and some are more recent. I like to create a story for myself. To me it feels like a musical voyage from and to whatever I feel like."

Shook: Music To... A Cosmic Voyage

ORIGINAL Citation (Oct 2014): Rosetta’s Plasma Consortium (RPC) has uncovered a mysterious ‘song’ that Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko is singing into space. The comet seems to be emitting a ‘song’ in the form of oscillations in the magnetic field in the comet’s environment. It is being sung at 40-50 millihertz, far below human hearing, which typically picks up sound between 20 Hz and 20 kHz. To make the music audible to the human ear, the frequencies have been increased in this recording. With a year full of travelling and touring almost over, @PalmsTrax landed in Brazil for the first time ever for a week of record digging and hanging out with some old and new friends. While down south in Curitiba for what will be a much remembered party, he took to the turntables at Alter Disco's Phil Mill's studio to show us some of the records he had collected in downtown São Paulo's record shops.
