Dear Dilla, you shaped my perception for music in ways I can't describe in words. Music has always touched my heart, but your music moved my soul. You had a gift of making the most creative music using samples from the most unlikely sources. I'll never understand why someone like you, who could have given the world so much more, would be taken way so soon. Dilla, you "literally" changed lives and you probably saved lives too, because when you make music "straight from the heart," it's not just music anymore.

The last real highlight of the lecture was when he played one of the last beats J Dilla ever produced. He explains how sick Dilla was at the time and that he couldn't really express himself through words. So instead, he would express himself through the beats he made. His last beat samples Funkadelic's "America Eats its Young" record and really symbolizes how he was feeling towards the end of his life.
