Record Label will be the next slow burn feature we will nurture on the site looking at record labels situated and placed in various international locations, affected by different social, economic and community based factors. We will open dialogue with these labels and try to delve deeper into the inception, ideas and decision to create, invest and persue this vision. We will get down to the detail on the core label and guest artists, releases and strategy moving forward, take into account all factors that have affected the commercial impact on vinyl and MP3 sales and also the labels greatest successes, surprises and challenges.


Boe Recordings based out of London pushing a modern underground and groovy take inspired and referencing Chicago and Detroit house music that we all are familiar with. The label is headed up by Ben Parkinson and begun life back in 2007 with its first release by Burnski – Monkey Hanging and more recently Just Like That by one of Boe’s discoveries Ladzinski underlining the signature House sound and narrative from previous releases.  Label name inspiration came from Ben recordings resident cat Barry and over time the label has organically grown & risen over the past few years with great character, intrinsic identity coupled with acclaimed deep House releases relinquishing praise from sites including influential online editorial RA, Electronic Beats, and K / D.


A key factor to Boe Recordings involve an solid base to ensure 12inch releases can be purchased in key record stores and also online, coupled with direct promotions available straight from the label offering vinyl and cd packages with purchases has been a definite win win for the label which is an idea a lot more labels need to model and replicate in there own back yards to cut out the middle man and ensure retail prices can be obtained straight by the label in these more modest times.


The next few releases will carry the labels strong heritage situated in Deep House with Kris Wadsworth flying the flag and also more label hook ups concerning gigs around the capital and the ever increasing Boe podcast will ensure the label sound can interest and engage with current and potential new Boe Recordings customers.


K / D and Ben exchanged dialogue over several weeks to attempt to paint the picture of Boe Recordings whilst dipping our toes in to various arenas all affecting the label and the wider electronic community keeping our eye on the future and what it holds, showcasing the labels art work and also a guest mix which you might have guest is not from founding feline Barry the cat but Ben Parkinson himself providing an cascading deep, melodic, consistent and concise deep House journey.

Recorded at home in the Boe mansions studio on my 15 year old unbreakable 1210s and an Allen & Heath Xone 62 mixer. Completely vinyl only with authentic dust and crackle, the mix reflects the sound of records I like to play at home after a night out or at after parties. Low slung, deep and rolling house music, it's definitely not an up front club set, it's one for the headphones or late night listening so kick back and play it loud, I hope you enjoy it.

Die Synästhesie (von altgriech. συναισϑάνομαι synaisthanomai „mitempfinden“ oder „zugleich wahrnehmen“) bezeichnet hauptsächlich die Kopplung zweier oder mehrerer physisch getrennter Bereiche der Wahrnehmung, etwa Farbe und Temperatur (beispielsweise die Verbindung „warmes Grün“), im engeren Sinne die Wahrnehmung von Sinnesreizen durch Miterregung der Verarbeitungszentren im Gehirn eines Sinnesorgans, wenn ein anderes gereizt wird. Menschen, die Wahrnehmungen derart verknüpft erfahren, werden als Synästhetiker bezeichnet. Synästhesien können auch krankheitsbedingt (zum Beispiel nach einer Erblindung) oder drogeninduziert (beispielsweise durch Halluzinogene) auftreten, sind für sich alleine aber kein Symptom einer Störung.

Synästhesie tritt familiär gehäuft auf. In einer Studie gaben 43 % der befragten Synästhetiker an, dass mindestens ein weiterer Synästhetiker unter den Verwandten ersten Grades sei.

In der Rhetorik steht der Begriff für das Vermischen von Sinnesebenen.

Ahoy und willkommen!

Die raue See hat uns wieder und ehrfürchtig queren wir ihre Breitengrade, immer auf der Suche nach einem neuen Abenteuer, dem nächsten Gin- & Rumfass, spanischen Golddublonen oder einfach nach Künstlern, welche die Stimmung auf See und an Deck auditiv einfangen. 

Unser neuer Matrose, an den Decks die die musikalische Welt bereisen, dachte doch wirklich er könne sich einen entspannten und beruhigenden Blick auf das Meer gönnen und alles wird schon. Ja neeee, is schon klar, nech - den hat euer Käpt’n https://soundcloud.com/rolandson gleich mal an Deck zitiert und ihn die harte Gischt schmecken lassen. Tjaha, so muss das mit de Frischfleisch an Bord, nichts mit inne Hängematten rumlümmeln und das Kraut der Halblinge rauchen - nicht mit eurem Käpt’n, nicht mit der rauen See. Na jedenfalls waren das für unseren https://www.soundcloud.com/jan-mal-neu - ling gleich intensive Tage, welche er wohl so schnell nicht vergessen wird. Stattdessen steht Jan jetzt respektvoll und staunend an der Reling und schaut hinaus auf das Meer, diesem »unbekannten Riesen voller Leben, Licht aber auch Dunkel- und Rohheit« wie er noch in leichter Landrattenmanier vom Meer spricht. Na sei es drum, jedenfalls hat er seinen Sinneswandel musikalisch aufgearbeitet und uns ein feines Stück Meeresmusik geschenkt und dazu wird der Zarte denn auch gleich noch philosophisch und beschreibt seine Gedankengänge wie folgt: »Das Meer ist ein Lebensspender, aber auch eine Naturgewalt, die mit uns macht was sie will. Ausgestattet mit all dieser Kraft und Ungezähmtheit, erlaubt uns die See trotzdem manchmal sich mit ausgebreiteten Armen rücklings auf sie zu legen —die Ohren vom Wasser bedeckt — uns fallen zu lassen und trotzdem nicht zu fallen. Denn wir werden getragen von ihr, von teilweise heftigen Wellen geschaukelt zwar, aber — mit einer Portion Vertrauen ausgestattet — auch feste umarmt.« 

Ja nech, so ist dieser Mix eine Abwechslung aus energischem »nach Vorne« und »nachdenklich melodiöser Verspieltheit« - damit kann er euren Käpt’n auf jeden Fall begeistern und euch hoffentlich ebenso. First up is Leftback Records' resident Chris Boardman, to kick off Alter Hours' fresh new mix series, ahead of his return to play for Alter Hour in May. Chris is a long time friend of Alter Hour and has influenced my own taste as a DJ, happily sharing his knowledge and music collection when I had just started learning to DJ myself. I knew I could rely on Chris to set off the mix series in a direction I'd like it to continue, and he certainly hasn't disappointed. 

"With this mix I started off dubby and then went more minimal and techy, basically what ya would get on a leftback night from me" - So here's a taste of a Leftback event and the roll he plays, often warming the parties up.

Leftback Records is run by Michael Mclardy and Dudley Strangeways, two excellent producers who have been putting out a huge amount of great material, really making an impact and getting big recognition in the scene.
