NORMAL LIGHT

“Wild” is a multidisciplinary ensemble piece, created by members of (TCP) The Circus Project's 2013 Youth Summer Performance Intensive on a human-sized aerial birdcage. The piece, co-created by seven youth, ages 13- 21, under the direction of Jenn Cohen (Director, Circus Project), Mizu Desierto (Director, Water in the Desert), and Nicolo Kehrwood (Coach), with musical composition by Roland Toledo, utilizes the cage as a metaphor for the internal structures we create to both contain and/or inhibit our deeper selves.

“Wild,” premiered at the Galaxy Festival in Director’s Park on Saturday, August 10th 2013 in Portland, Oregon and in Seattle, WA to perform at Broadway Performance Hall as part of the American Youth Circus Organization’s Festival.

Roland Ventura Toledo, aka Alter Structure, is a modern designer. He works in the cross roads between architecture, graphic design, sculpture, and sound design. As an electronic composer, he focuses on the natural environment as a sound source and explores the potential of data to create a fabric of immersive sound - the relationship of the two creates a sculptural anatomy that is both physical and mentally intense, moving, and structural.

Under the alias Alter Structure, the interest lies in exploring the synergy and metamorphosis between man, nature, and machine. These experiments create a language with electronic music at its core, and radiates into the fields of dance, visuals, exhibitions, and motorcycle culture. There is an idea of trust, in the continuation of the mystery.
