I wanted this to be the first track from Drive I shared with you all not because it's the biggest or the best, but because it's probably my personal favourite.

The album was basically inspired by a road trip I took with my wife from New York to Los Angeles last year, taking in Route 66 and numerous ghost towns, deserts, mountain passes, dirt roads etc, and I came up with the melody for this one towards the end, somewhere in the Mojave Wilderness as we finally made it into California, the setting sun of the West in the distance. A long way from home, and still fairly far from our final destination, but the end was in sight. And that's the moment the track basically came to describe. It isn't really a club banger, or a club track. It's just something I felt like writing.

Anyway - enough deep shit. Still feels slightly surreal to be sharing this body of work after waiting so long. More soon.

Long Way Home

One of the hottest new names to emerge in the Vocal Trance scene over the past twelve months is undoubtedly the lovely Sarah Lynn. Her breakthrough collaboration with Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight, that received the Allen & Envy Remix, became one of the biggest uplifting Trance tracks in 2013. The icing on the cake. As Aly & Fila expand their record label with ‘Future Sound of Egypt Excelsior’, finish up yet another FSOE world tour, and drop smash record after smash record, it’s hard to imagine what in the world could be left for the pair. Just shy of 1 million Facebook followers as of this writing, Aly & Fila are about as elite as it gets.

Fusing instrumentation from different cultures, genres, and even eras, they’ve blended it all in a style that no one on earth could emulate.

Powerful diversity. From Aruna’s jazzy and minimal title track to ‘In My Mind’ (featuring Karim Youssef & May Hassan), the scope of this record is unimaginable. Songs like ‘Altitude Compensation’ will pull at your heart like a long-lost lover, while ‘Never Let Me Go’ (featuring Seri) is an intimate, remarkable tune made possible by inspired and magical vocals. Downtempo ‘Shine’ (with Roxanne Emery) is perfect for kicking back in peace and harmony.

“Perfection is achieved when there’s nothing left to take away.” Very few producers would have the confidence to strip their tracks down to the bare essentials, leaving nothing left to hide. To pull this off, what’s left has to be almost inhumanly perfect - breath for breath, note for note. You couldn’t take away a single sound or a song from this record and have it be the same, and as impossible as it may seem, it’s hard to imagine Aly & Fila going anywhere but up from here.

With my new album '100 Reasons To Live' about to land, I wanted to upload my favorite / most personal track on the record. Named after my daughter, it's the album's closing track, and track #13 (as she was born on March 13th!).

Big love to everyone who's already bought the record - orders are already higher than my last two albums, which feels amazing and vindicating, given every time I embark on the long road of doing an artist album I get the same feedback "Artist album are dead, make banger singles and focus on social media instead".
