G8 is being used as an “amplitude splitter” in order to selectively route part of the kick drum through an effect chain using G8’s reject output. First you hear the dry kick drum, then routing using different combinations of one-shot, cycle, flipped one-shot and flipped-cycle modes on G8. The reject channel’s effect chain is kept constant throughout the demo but many different effects are created by simply changing the gating parameters on G8.

Here is the first audio test of my upcoming Simmons Drums VST, it is called VSDSX and is closely based on the legendary SDSV Module (Modulation part of the SDS7 is also included)
It is actually in alpha stage but can already kick some ass :)
Last extract featured VSDSX + VLINN LM1 VST, together, they make a pretty powerful setup.

Purely VSDSX VST, some nice singing percussions with no bending for that characteristic Simmons tone percs. I have used 2 instances of VSDSX for a huge set of pads :)

Some experiment with crazy DAW automation of the drum synth parameters... something that would be hard to do on a real module because you cannot jumb from one value to another excepted if you modify the unit to accept some CV ahahaa. This is one benefit from Virtual systems, it allows for nice experiments.

A short extract of a Jam based of the Jean Michel Jarre track called 2nd Rendez-Vous Part III (the one he used the light Harp in concert :) ) I have arranged the track differently and used VSDSX VST for the drums exclusively. Jarre was using Simmons Drums a lot in his 80s live shows.

I have tried to reproduced the feel of the original Simmons SDSV Demonstration Vinyl Disc from the 80s! it is not an exact copy but I tried to match the sound settings and the vibe... I think It showcase well the sound of the plugin :)
