Concert saxophonist, avid chamber musician, and versatile music educator, Alyssa Hoffert has both performed and premiered new works for saxophone extensively throughout the United States and Europe, including appearances with the Liberty Wind Symphony, the Cleveland Winds, the University Circle Wind Ensemble, the Cleveland Institute of Music and Firelands Symphony Orchestras, and the National Collegiate Wind Ensemble under the baton of H. Robert Reynolds at Carnegie Hall. 

A staunch advocate of chamber music, Hoffert is a founding member of the Peroledi Duo with flutist Matthew Angelo, and soprano saxophonist and founding member of the La’Ventus Quartet, who recently garnered national recognition as prize winners of the 2014 'American Prize in Chamber Ensemble Performance'. 

Hoffert has also been a prizewinner of many competitions and fellowships, including a recipient of the Art of Wind Band Conducting fellowship at the University of Minnesota, a selected member of the Technology in Music Education (TI:ME) Leadership Academy, an artist residency at the Avaloch Farm Music Institute, and prestigious fellowships from the Huntington Beebe Foundation and the Cité Internationale Universitaire (CUIP) to pursue studies in contemporary music performance and literature in Paris, France.

Hoffert holds an MM in Saxophone Performance from the Hartt School and a B.S in Music Education cum laude from Case Western Reserve University and the joint music program at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She has pursued additional studies at the American Saxophone Academy at the Eastman School of Music and the International SaxArts Festival in Faenza, Italy. Her primary teachers include Greg Banaszak, Carrie Koffman, and Jean-Michel Goury.

Alyssa can be heard alongside grammy-nominated saxophonist, Greg Banaszak, on Music Minus One’s, "Romantic Music for Alto Saxophone and Piano". Hoffert is a Conn-Selmer artist and performs on Selmer Paris Saxophones and mouthpieces.

Born in the year of 1985 at Taipei, has been leaned piano since age of 4 and Saxophone at 15 years old. Graduated from Conservatoire de Paris, a pupil of Taiwanese saxophonist Philippe HU and French saxophonist Yann LEMARIE.  Tzu-Chieh SHEN has shown his talent in music since he is very young, who is born with charming and confidence at stages. He not only brings the new trends to classical music but also breaks through the traditions bravely among the others. He were offered D.E.M musical certificate of Conservatoire a Rayonnement Regional de Paris at 2011, and held several successful concerts and published the book which is about his abroad life in Paris ever since that. 


Natural da cidade do Porto, iniciou os seus estudos de Clarinete aos 12 anos com o Prof. Alberto Vieira, 1º Sargento da Banda da Região Militar do Norte. Em 1990, estudou no Conservatório de Música do Porto na classe do Prof. Moreira Jorge. Nesse mesmo ano, ingressou voluntariamente na Banda da Região Militar do Norte (Exército), onde muito cedo lhe foram atribuídas funções de patente superior em muitos concertos como solista e/ou concertista. Foram-lhe atribuídos três públicos louvores por bons serviços prestados à instituição.
Durante este período interpretou uma obra para clarinete solo:“Introdução, Tema e Variações” de Rossini.
Estudou com o conceituado clarinetista francês Paul Meyer.
Foi durante vários anos elemento da orquestra “Surprise Project”, com a qual trabalhou no casino Solverde (Espinho), e também por todo o país em vários eventos, actuando com artistas consagrados como Rui Veloso, Luís Portugal, Fernando Pereira, entre outros.
Foi solista da OLVS Big Band em Clarinete e Sax-alto, tendo feito muitos espectáculos por todo o país e também participado em programas televisivos.
Foi convidado a participar em alguns programas da Porto Canal.
Gravou para a RTP, SIC e TVI.
Participou na novela da TVI, "Sonhos Traídos", inserido na orquestra privativa do elenco e banda sonora.
Foi membro fundador do quarteto de clarinetes “Adágio” e elemento do quinteto de sopros “Ventus”.
Foi membro fundador do quinteto clássico Altu´s Quintet.
Foi solista da Orquestra da Câmara de Pedroso, Orquestra Gulbenkian de Braga e Orquestra da Igreja da Lapa, tendo-se apresentado a solo nas mesmas.
Também prestou os seus serviços na Orquestra do Norte.
Colabora regularmente com a Orquestra Clássica do Centro. Participou na estreia da ópera “Os Sinos da Macieira” de Natasha e Marina Pikoul.
Tocou a solo em várias salas de Portugal e estrangeiro, em particular na sala Suggia da Casa da Música, interpretando um concerto para clarinete de Franz Danzi sobre um tema de Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (D. Giovanni).
Colabora em muitas bandas filarmónicas do norte e centro do país como solista convidado.
Gravou, a convite da banda Flor da Mocidade Junqueirense, a obra Czardas de Vittorio Monti para clarinete solo.
É compositor de várias obras para banda e vários grupos de música de câmara, como Quinteto de Sopros, Ensemble de Clarinetes e grupos corais.
Colaborou e trabalhou com conceituados maestros como: António Vitorino D’Almeida, Ivo Cruz, José Ferreira Lobo, Gunther Arglebe, António Saiote, Virgílio Caseiro, David Wyn Lloyd, António Baptista, Cesário Costa, Cónego Ferreira dos Santos, José Atalaya, etc.
Actualmente lecciona as disciplinas de Clarinete, Saxofone e Formação Musical no Externato da Imaculada Conceição, Centro de Estudos Musicais em Gueifães (Maia), AACE (Ermesinde) e na escola da Banda de Vila Boa de Quires (Marco de Canaveses).
Fui solista e chefe de naipe da Banda de Vila Boa de Quires.
É membro fundador do Duo Contrastus.
É membro fundador do Quinteto de sopros Douro Quintus.
Trabalha regularmente na empresa Douro Azul com o Duo Contrastus, Altu´s Quintet e a solo.
Ministrou, em Março de 2015 uma Masterclass de Clarinete na Banda de Rio Tinto, (BSCRT).

Sabine and Takahiko Saito joined forces as a piano duo whilst still students and participated successfully at international competitions, including the 1995 "Concours Musical de France" in Paris, the 1999 Franz Schubert Competition Jesenik, the 1999 " Torneo Internationale di Musica" in Rome and the International Piano Duo Competition in Tokyo in 2000.

Carl Schimmel is a composer based in Iowa and Illinois.  Praised by The New York Times as “vivid and dramatic,” his recent music is dense with literary and musical references, often humorous, and combines intensity of expression with a structural rigor which is influenced in part by his mathematics background.  In weaving his musical narratives from poetry, art, and even unusual words, he strives to construct emotional and culturally complex sound worlds that excite the listener’s imagination.

Winner of a 2018 Guggenheim Fellowship, Columbia University’s Joseph Bearns Prize, the Lee Ettelson Award, and the 2017 Goddard Lieberson Fellowship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Schimmel has received honors and awards from many organizations, including the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, Copland House, New Music USA, and ASCAP.  His works have been performed in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall, Merkin Hall in New York, Severance Hall in Cleveland, the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, St. Martin-in-the-Fields in London, Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis, and at other venues throughout North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia.  He has received performances and commissions from the American Composers Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, California EAR Unit, the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, Alarm Will Sound, North/South Consonance, Quintet Attacca, the Mexico City Woodwind Quintet, and many others.  A graduate of Duke University (Ph.D.), the Yale School of Music (M.M.), and Case Western Reserve University (B.A. Mathematics and Music), he is Associate Professor of Music Theory and Composition at Illinois State University in Normal, IL.
