Chinese/Dutch duo AM444 is very proud to present their brand new EP “Dark Show”. On this release, producer Jay.Soul (soundcloud.com/jay-soul)  is moving towards a more electronic sound that is equal parts futuristic and retro – full of warped 808 drums, floating arpeggiated synths and addictive analog basslines. Singer ChaCha (soundcloud.com/chachachina) meanwhile dives deeper lyrically into the darker sides of human behaviour, singing about mass confusion, sexual desires and selling one’s soul to the devil. The warmth of ChaCha’s voice and the lyrical fluidity she manages to give to Mandarin Chinese remains one of AM444’s main attractions - with her vocal arrangements becoming ever more ingenious. 

Together, this uncompromising duo effortlessly takes you from foreboding minimalistic space funk (“Huo”) and moody post-r&b (“Lian”), to the old school house vibes and sexual lyrics of “Not What It Seems” and the gradually evolving, dragging synth groove and hypnotic vocals of “Dark Show” (video: https://youtu.be/noFqtgRgang)

In summer 2015, AM444 (Dutch producer/musician @jay-soul and eccentric Chinese singer @chachachina from Shanghai) and Geneva based Hip Hop artist @rootwords teamed up to collaborate on an explosive brand new song called "Don't Think". 

After a few back and forths over the internet and a quick rehearsal, AM444 and Rootwords performed the song live in front of a vibrant crowd at the 40th edition of the world renowned Paléo Festival in Nyon, Switzerland. Having enjoyed the experience, and receiving positive feedback, the artists decided to record the song and make history with this collaboration.

"Don't Think" is a critique on how social media and the internet invades our personal lives, while making it impossible for us to live without it - for better or for worse.

It Won't Stop is excited to present a long-awaited solo effort by Amsterdam's Jay.Soul!

He's best known for his grooving but cinematic, genre-bending productions for AM444 (with one of China's most interesting artists, YEHAIYAHAN - fka ChaCha), intelligent grown folks hip-hop with Brooklyn star rapper Justo The MC (Showbiz, Maticulous, Gang Starr Foundation) and warm, funky neo-soul with the likes of Corey (Dutch Grand Prize, 2002), Giovanca (Dox Records), and NineFifty (with Miss Dee Angeline - 4Lux).

Besides this, he's composed original music for and performed music in a few films and numerous theatre productions (NLFilm, Urban Myth, Produktiehuis Rotterdam, NNT and Huub van der Lubbe), and had his music synced 100+ times in tv shows and other visual media.

But everything started more than 20 years ago with Jay.Soul (Jeroen van Olffen) making endless amounts of instrumentals, by himself. And this has never stopped. So, it's only right and long overdue you finally get to enjoy a selection of brand new solo tracks by this seasoned beat magician.

The 6 KNOKERS ep show strong traces of a jazzy 90s hip-hop aesthetic, but are equally influenced by various more current electronic styles and always seem to possess an effortless dose of soul & funk. As long as the vibes are right, the drums are knocking and the heavy bass is pushing things forward, who cares what genre(s) this should be labeled as.
