In 2018 Brazilian producer L-Side released his highly anticipated album 'Carnal Mind'. Taking his influence from Hip Hop artists, L-Side made his mark with his meticulous mix of upfront and aggressive sounds merged with funk and soul styles, forging a flawlessly fresh take on drum and bass.

Three years on since the release of the album L-Side has continued to grow and has captured the attention of the whole scene! Recents releases 'Zaga Dan' & 'Steppa Dub' gained huge support from a wide selection of D&B DJs as well as radio support from Annie Mac, DJ Target, Giles Peterson, Rene LaVice and many more. With remixes of his own for Hospital Records, Spearhead and more out now or en route, L-Side decided to take a look back at this project and has linked up with some of his favourite producers from to deliver a huge 4 track EP 'Carnal Mind Remxied'.

All four remixes have been receiving great support both before and during lockdown with Break, Dogger & Mindstate and label mates Alibi all putting their signature spin on some of the highlights from the album. The line up of remixers is made even more special by the inclusion of D&B legend Spirit's take on Spellbound - a project completely shortly before he sadly passed away in 2018.

With new music from L-Side waiting in the wings for release later this year, now seemed like the perfect time to finally unleash this remix project to the world, as well as shine a light back on his debut album for those who are new to the L-Side sound!

Desert Circuit bridges East and West with precision electronics and living tradition. Across ten cuts, anonymous guest DJs fold maqam colors (Hijaz, Nahawand) and raga phrasing into grid-tight sequencers, darbouka/tabla syncopations, and micro-bent synths. The result is kinetic but spacious: drums breathe like sand winds, melodies bloom from overtones, and bass moves with caravan weight. Part of the Fixer Daily Drops series, this Collaboration Edition keeps the spotlight on form and feeling rather than names—inviting listeners to hear cities through signal and groove.

In Synthetic Music: Desert Circuit, Fixer maps a signal path across the Middle East and India, where acoustic ornament becomes digital geometry. Each track pairs modern synth architecture with hand-played percussive dialects—Maqsoum, Saidi, Keharwa—treated not as exotic motifs but as engines for pattern and lift. Anonymous guests contribute under city-coded aliases to foreground sound over identity: Nile Parallax (Cairo), Wadi Meridian (Amman), PinkCity Array (Jaipur), Cedar Phase (Beirut), Westbank Oscillator (Luxor), Monsoon Logic (Mumbai), Ringroad Relay (Delhi), Bosphorus Bit (Istanbul), Ghat Sequence (Varanasi), and DXB Pulse (Dubai). The album’s design favors hypnotic motion, microtonal inflections, and clean low-end architecture—built for late sets, desert highways, and the mental space where repetition becomes revelation.

The annual summer album from the south-London based imprint provides a soundtrack for a time in our lives that has changed every one of us. From their homes to yours, their weekly virtual parties have allowed us to come together under the shared love for 174 beats per minute.

The album is packed with 32 brand new original tracks, collaborations and remixes to make sure that good vibes and even better music are in plentiful supply, featuring the likes of Camo & Krooked, Flava D, London Elektricity, S.P.Y, Kings Of The Rollers, Degs, Logistics and Makoto, seamlessly blended together by Nu:Tone on the continuous mix.

Delivering everything you’d expect plus more, Urbandawn’s ‘Carnival Blues’ is a nod to his eclectic musical background.The Sao Paulo-based sonic architect canvasses vibrations from around the world into an untestable drum & bass cruncher. Villem sets the compilation in motion with ‘We Had A Song’ ft Leo Wood, a 2020 cover of a classic by the progressive contemporary icons The Roots - “You Got Me”. His first release since his seventh studio album, Hospital head-honcho London Elektricity has teamed up again with the Stockholm-based Bulgarian Goddess, providing stunning orchestral sounds in ‘Someone Once Gave Me A Melody’. Camo & Krooked meet Pola & Bryson on their official remix of ‘Turn Up (The Music)’. Incorporating the anthemic synth and vocal leads from the original, brisk breaks and growling basses flip the tune on its head turning it into a sub-heavy summer striker.

Embarking on an interplanetary journey through bass-ridden black holes, powerhouse trio Kings Of The Rollers have stepped up with ‘Saturn’s Strings’, plus ‘The Prophet’ which marks Voltage’s first solo release on Hospital Records. The compilation also sees an exciting release from dance music duo My Nu Leng as they join forces with Dread MC on ‘Worldwide’, a tearout destroyer that draws for system shaking basslines.

Whilst they won’t be able to unite the Hospital family and wider drum & bass community this summer, Hospital Records and Hospitality continue to supply the highest calibre of music, no matter what the circumstances.
