Peter Jacques band was an Italian Disco band, created by French-Italian-American businessman Jacques Fred Petrus (1949–1986) and songwriter and producer Mauro Malavasi (1958-). They released three albums all reaching minor success but most of all opened up the US market for Italian made disco. The albums were, "Fire Night Dance" in 1978, "Welcome Back" in 1979 and "Dancing In The Street" in 1985.

Next Tuesday, 31 March, marks a year since the untimely passing of Knuckles, the godfather of house, at the age of 59. It’s impossible to overestimate what a pivotal figure he was in the evolution of dance music. Not only did he inadvertently give the genre its name, but for three decades he remained a leading light in the worldwide dance music community. He is to house what Little Richard and Chuck Berry are to rock’n’roll.

His story is also arguably dance music’s greatest tale. He started DJing at Better Days in Times Square when he was 16 at the start of the 1970s, before first making his name playing alongside his friend Larry Levan at New York’s Continental Baths, a subterranean club/sauna infamous for tales of legendary bacchanalian excess. When the Continental Baths closed in 1976, he moved to Chicago and a club called the Warehouse – which was to give house music its name – where he took a New York sensibility and developed a unique mix of leftfield disco re-edits, stripped-down early electronic records and oddball imports. Chicago record shops such as Imports Etc began to devote sections to what they referred to as “Warehouse music”, which was shortened to house music. One night in 1981, Knuckles was driving through the windy city’s suburbs with a friend when he saw a sign in a bar window that read: “We play house music.” “Now what’s that all about?” he asked. “It means music like you’re playing at the Warehouse,” his friend replied.

BBE Music bids a fond farewell to UK music hero, the Legendary Paul ‘Trouble’ Anderson, with the great man’s final production: a stunning soulful house version of gospel standard ‘Happy Day’.

A pirate radio and club DJ since the 1970s, the influence of Paul ‘Trouble’ Anderson on UK music simply cannot be understated. From his early days throwing shapes and honing his formidable skills behind the decks at London club ‘Crackers’, through his years at Kiss FM, to enchanting a whole new generation in recent times with his Bussey Building residency and on Mi Soul Radio, Paul’s was surely a life well spent: spreading joy through music.

It is fitting then, that his final production is a characteristically up-beat, ebullient and spiritual one. First arranged in a gospel style by Edwin Hawkins in 1967, ‘Oh Happy Day’ has become beloved the world over thanks to its comforting message and uplifting harmonies. Featuring vocals from the dearly departed John Redmond (RIP) and drums/programming from Frankie Dark (aka Booker T), PTA’s ‘Happy Day’ provides an ecstatic, anthemic soulful house update; a truly breathtaking and beautiful way to say goodbye.

The package contains a pair of piano-laden dub versions, plus instrumental and reprise mixes, giving a versatile selection for DJs to choose from, with stunning original artwork by Richard Wilson.
