Here's a track I just put out as part of the 10th anniversary compilation of one of my favourite labels, Glasgow's finest Bricolage. It also happens to be the first track I'm putting out as a solo production under my own name. It is kinda ambient/downtempo/dub/lo-fi/IDM-ish - I hope you like it!

In this episode we are going to explore everything that is related to jazz, in all the bizarre spectrum and shapes it takes. And Awkward Position is a monthly radio transmission, hosted in the middle of the week by Yssue, dedicated to unusual, offbeat, and misbehaving musical forms. You're invited to lose your footing and embrace the contradictions. Expect: leftfield detours, kraut ghosts, post-club somethings, lopsided breaks, sentimental industrial, crumbling poetry, orchestral avant-garde — and whatever else sneaks in. Eighteen months on from his "Left Hand Drive" debut on Bricolage, Wilks returns with his much anticipated, sophomore EP, "A Soul To Borrow".

Any fans of the "Left Hand Drive" EP will be elated to know that the emotive edges and cinematic backdrops are still at the forefront of the Wilks sound but there's a clear evolution at the core of his productions. It's a sound that is hard to pin down. Incorporating elements of ambient, electronica, garage and drum n bass into one evocative whole. Clean production techniques, a broader palette and more experience has elevated Wilks into a new realm of sound. Electronic music with finesse and grit.

There's a more lacquered nuance in the shades of the melodies on show and the basslines run that little bit deeper. Helping to add further to the stirring depth of all six tracks. The percussion feels tight but luxurious as it meticulously opens and expands around the soundscapes. There's a degree of melancholy throughout but the reflection of the shuffling rhythms provides us with a constant sense of moving forward and upwards.

Intricate, delicate, serene and atmospheric. You can hear and feel that this is a project that has had everything poured into it. Heart and soul.

Rolando Simmons has been crafting imaginative, acid-tinged electronic music from the foggy depths of the European experimental techno scene since the early 2000s. Originally inspired by The Kosmic Free Music Foundation and early tracker musicians, he builds detailed collages of hardware and software recordings, the result of two decades of playful experimentation and exploration.

Since his first EP on 030303 Records in 2014, Rolando has become a regular on labels like Analogical Force, Love Love Records, and Furthur Electronix, carving out a distinct space for his melodic, textured, and emotionally rich sound within the global IDM, braindance and acid community.

“Over the years, I let go of hard-hitting industrial techno and EBM synths - it just stopped resonating. My body literally started to contract at the very sound of it, so I took the hint. I gravitated toward more intricate rhythms and spacious sound design, which led me into the vast realm of bass music, now at the forefront of my selection next to electro and breakbeat techno. Things may change, but at the core, I always have the most fun chasing grooves in rhythmic chaos.”

N SKA is a DJ and experience creator, part of irl.berlin and the @fraktionnimmersatt rave collective in Berlin, and co-founder of the @sfora_art festival, where she led its creative direction until 2024. Since then, she's been active in festival production across Europe and has explored awareness work and sustainability practices in the industry.

First extract from the next to come album on Teenage Menopause Records, by belgian soundcrafting experimentator Tzii and Istanbul pluridisciplinary artist/singer Hilal Can.

Fragments of ghosts, shattered memories, impossible romance—"Hayalet Kırıkları" drifts between dream and dissociation.
Born in Istanbul, where voices and street sounds collide with spectral echoes, the album reshapes fragments of Turkish songs into a haunted, timeless collection.
Hilal Can’s incandescent voice rises from within these fogged recollections, a vessel of intimacy and rupture, while Tzii sculpts vast soundscapes that feel both tender and unrelenting. Together, they create a music that lives in-between—between memory and invention, love and absence, presence and disappearance.
On two tracks, violinist Ruben Tenenbaum deepens the trance, weaving modal improvisations into the cracks of this fragile world.
The result is an album that feels like a diary written in smoke—half-remembered, half-invented, always shimmering on the edge of reality.
