Having grown up in the Church, I found my happiness there, even if it was occasionally punctuated by struggle. My recent diagnosis has, perhaps, drawn me even closer to my faith. While I intend to fight, my Christianity means I am not afraid to die. The strangest part of all is this all-encompassing calmness that has come over me.

I appreciate your prayers, but I ask you not to mourn. My doctors are excellent and will do everything they can, and I have assured them of my lack of fear. I may not have lived the best life, but I did my best. Throughout it all, God was on my side. There were moments I deserved to be in Attica—I know what I'm talking about—but  God who heard my mother's prayers erected a fence of protection around me.

I established Deliver Us From Evil Ministries and The Urban Survivor network a few years ago. Though I grew tired of religious arguments, I remember Mosie Burke's words: "I'm Not Tired Yet." I don't know what's next, but my faith remains—no matter how battered it is
