B&B006 welcomes Breakbeats & Basslines founder Amalgamate onto the label for the very first time. Featuring collaborations with B&B Collective members Markka and Grimms, as well as a remix from Wrekka, the ‘Destroy Humans’ EP is a snapshot into his eclectic approach to Drum & Bass production.

Launching the EP into a melodic frenzy of synths, stabs, and succulent sound design, the headline track, ‘Destroy Humans’, is a collaboration with 17-year-old South Korean producer Markka, who released his debut ‘Falling’ EP on the label back in January. Following on from this is ‘Rave Analysis’, a gritty and wobbly sonic affair that promises to leave dancefloors in dismay. ‘Karma’ showcases a deeper, more intimate side to Grimms than we’ve seen on previous releases, with his use of personal lyricism and impeccable sonic palette juxtaposing itself perfectly on the crisp and uplifting sound of the production. Last, but by no means least, is Wrekka’s sub-heavy remix of ‘Karma’, perfectly encapsulating why you see the rising stars' names pop up on the label so frequently.

Destroy Humans EP (OUT NOW)

Charlie Milan Cummings, professionally known as Amalgamate, is a UK-based Drum & Bass producer hailing from the Welsh capital of Cardiff.

As is suggested by the alias, his productions amalgamate an array of musical influences, all of which glue together to form a crisp, dynamic, and high-octane frenzy of 170BPM fuelled sounds. His debut EP, ‘Destroy Humans’, provides the perfect snapshot into this, with a melodic frenzy of synths, stabs, and succulent sound design, reesy manoeuvres, colourful percussive plucks, and blistering bass processing at the forefront of the project.

As well as producing, Amalgamate is the founder of the Drum & Bass record label Breakbeats & Basslines, which aims to bring a new dimension of fresh, high-octane, and idiosyncratic sounds to the genre. Also a freelance music journalist and MA student at Cardiff University, Charlie is dedicated to pursuing a life abundant with the music that he loves.

I’ve been working alongside Charlie and Breakbeats & Basslines since the launch of the imprint and I’m always happy to hear from him when it comes to a new release. The quality of music being put out by them is wicked and they’re a hard working group of individuals.

When Charlie approached me to contribute a mix to our Renegade Riddims series I instinctively said yes and I’m not sorry I did! The mix he’s put together for us is a real party starter from start to finish, the vibes are top class! With tracks from the likes of himself, Kings of the Rollers, Kasra, Wrekka, Gyrofield, IMANU, Loastar, BCee, Halogenix, Jaynie and loads more this is one to get you moving and bouncing!
