One morning I woke up in the deep, dingy German Ruhrpott. In a secluded hotel I saw my sleeping wife and while I was looking at her, the first lines of this track, already set to music inside me, rose up: "Good Morning, Good Morning, what I say now is true. Tell it only in English: I love you". And also the other sentences came in the course of the next days and weeks in English. 

This song is a repeated declaration of love to my wonderful wife. I have been with her for 20 years and I fall in love with her again and again 20 days a month.

But on a more fundamental level I also ask the question why it's not only hard for me to look a person you love in the eye and to say directly in the language you're most familiar with (and that's German for me): "I love you".

John Lennon began to crush the Beatlemania increasingly at the end of 1964. After the legendary meeting with Bob Dylan, his lyrics became more deep and introspective. One of the first songs of this time was "I'm a loser", in which he admitted his inner failure at the brutal success mechanisms of show business. 
Deeply impressed by Bob Dylan he originally wanted to sing "I'm a loser" like a slow folk blues. On "Beatles for Sale", however, the track was again pressed into a light and shallow pop scheme. 
With my Blues version I try to put myself a little into the "Lennon", who - free of Beatlemania and pressure to succeed - sings his own version of "I'm a loser".
And personally this song is so close to my heart, because I find it very important to face my own failure, breakdowns and collapses in a well-dosed way. 
In the following 16 years (from 1964 until his terrible murder) John Lennon found more and more to his inner contentment, by confronting himself partly radically (e.g. through primal screaming therapy) with his own shadows or - to stay in the song - his inner "I'm a loser".

This chanson by George Moustaki is one of my other French musical love relationships that still accompany me today. Whenever I run the risk of falling into self-pity, I listen to this wonderful song and find access to my loneliness anew. And then I experience again, how important it is to be intimate with her, in order to make the right decisions for me and my life. This also applies to songwriting, among other things. Good songs are often created when I let my loneliness kiss and caress me, give myself completely to and lose all fear of her.
