A lot of people like asking me how I managed to write such a unique story whenever the topic of my game comes up, and every single time somebody asks that I add another tally mark to my chart and laugh because I feel like a lot of people treat it like its casting magic when it's much simpler than that in reality.
My word of advice is to just not be afraid of experimenting. Cobble together whatever stuff you have in your brain and see what sticks — you'd be surprised what kind of things you'd be able to come up with through trial-and-error alone!
Nothing's original, the way I see it. Creations have always been inspired by other creations...it's that personal touch the creator adds to what they make that manages to give it that standalone feel regardless.
Somebody happened to write something before you that sounds a lot like your own idea? Cool! Write down your idea anyways. As long as you're able to put your own spin on it, I'm sure whatever you make will be cool enough for people to want to engage in & enjoy. :)
