Electronic music pioneers Slam return to their home base of Soma with their brand new album, Reverse Proceed.
After tireless months in the studio, the Glaswegian duo are ready to unleash what is easily their best body of work to date. Not only does this album capture where the two are at musically at the moment but is an extension of their unending fascination with all things Electronic. Lending their 22 years of experience to this new project, Slam have delved into the past for inspiration whilst simultaneously heralding future technologies in the production process. Conceptually, Slam wanted to have the human experience in mind when recording and to base the architecture of the album around ‘the sequence’. This led them to a locally built hardware sequencer called the ‘Sequentix Cirklon’ that became the heart of the album. Allowing them to access older machines and also a modern modular synth setup simultaneously, Stuart & Orde merged live manipulation and recording techniques to full potential to bring a soul to the album.
Reverse Proceed is more than an album; it is a well-defined experience built on the principle of the sequence. Having been meticulously woven together to create a seamless listening environment, Reverse Proceed aims to capture the audience and guide them through the sonic landscape of the album. This method allowed Slam to fully explore the concept of the album
being more than just a collection of tracks but rather a thoroughly immersible piece.
With this concept in mind, the album's opening drifts in over the course of several tracks as the malevolent Tokyo Subway opens what is the ambient first third of the album. Tension is built through sweeping pads and dubbed out synths leading perfectly into the more delicate Visual Capture where a sea of field recorded rain splashes over subtle bell tones and dream-state strings. Title track Reverse Proceed begins with intensity as pulsing sub bass fills the void with yet more time induced percussive fluctuations though synthesis, the haunting pads giving more depth to this deep, evolving track. The hardware at the center of the album takes hold now as Cirklon Bells brings a slight edge of melancholy to proceedings. It's natural hang-drum- esq sounds permeate as various layers are perfectly sequenced, breathing life into the track with each touch.
Heavenly pads bring Synchronicity into existence as we hear the first semblance of a 4/4 make its way out of the depths of the ambience. Stuttered percussion and fast paced, filtered synthetic tones give an almost unnatural rhythm whilst holding momentum firmly. A definite step up begins here as Ghosts Of Detroit stamps that typical Slam sound on the album. This ode to the motor city see an almighty melodic upheaval as tones begin to form complete harmonious coexistence and the album sees the shift onto a more dance floor orientated state of being, complete with blueprint style kick- sub bass conformity.
The ethereal interlude of Relevant Question proves to be little rest bite as Pattern A3 stomps in with flourishing modular based sequential tones and sparse, kicking 909 drums, the albums defining heads down Techno moment. Tweeked out, delayed and cerebral, Factory Music continues on perfectly as yet more off kilter sequences makes heads spin with it's subtle use of FX and crisp percussion. The wail of Convolute keeps things in check as discord swells enough to keep you ready for the solid and hypnotic Catacoustics. Dark and brooding it sets the tone for Irritant with its broken beat and roomy percussion riding spaced out, otherworldly forces. The easily recognisable Rotary helps see the album out with it's elastic synths and driving rhythms showing Slam's credentials as straight up dance floor killers. As we finally wind down from the journey we are brought into great depths with the sublime Resolved. A fitting title to end to what is the climax of this multi-faceted album.
Slam have always brought new meaning to the world of techno and electronic music over the years and have been instrumental in some of its defining moments over their careers. Modern Techno albums come and go but with a clear vision of what they wanted to bring to the table, the dynamic duo of Stuart McMillan & Orde Meikle have once again raised the bar for the world of techno.

The Ambient Zone is a beautiful journey into ambient and electronica inspired by universal themes of calmness, purity, relaxation and enrichment where Weightless is coupled with some exclusive first releases and other blissfully ambient tracks from Just Music artists and alumni.

Created instinctively and intuitively by Marconi Union, Weightless has been claimed to have therapeutic properties in the way the track almost appears to have a heartbeat running through it which slows down very gently throughout the piece, encouraging a deep sense of relaxation in the body, It's use of specific rhythms, beep bass tones, frequencies and intervals induce an almost trance like state in the listener.

Dutch pair, Jean-Paul Grobben and Serge Dusault are a formidable modern production force. Conceived in 2007 as Sed Project, over time the duo have gradually compiled a body of work which first bore fruit on Particles with a dark and menacing remix of fellow Dutchman, Exoplanet and his track "Fenomeen". Since then, Sed Project's ability to craft unique musical sculptures, fulfilling their self-confessed "story-teller" status, has been a rarefied success. 2011's "Future Able" EP featuring the vocal talents of Door Visser and Lisette van den Berg provided an intriguing snapshot inside the minds of the pair and also led to a raft of high-calibre remixes from Aeron Aether, Nick Hogendoorn and Exoplanet himself.

Now, after an initial 'tongue-in-cheek' independent launch on the apocalyptic Mayan date of 12.12.12, Proton Music is thrilled to announce the full release of Sed Project's first full-length album, "The End", complete with the hugely impressive rich and textured artwork from Hessel Stuut and its echoes of British 17th century artist, Joseph Turner.

Inspired by "shining the light on darker things", Sed Project's outwardly happy personas are juxtaposed against the melancholy realities of everyday existence, taken shape in the abstract notions of love, life and death. These themes are then played out across the ten-track album in unparalleled skill and verve.

The enigmatic guitar riffs of Paul Davids are expertly meshed against the electronic textures and deep emotive vibes of the opener, "When Worlds Collide Part I" while the beautiful piano of "Part II" echo the melodic themes of its predecessor. Vocalists, Door Visser and Lisette van den Berg take centre stage on the works "Desire You", "Cross" and "Lullaby", each accompanied by the impressive production techniques of Grobben and Dusault and their immaculate sense of rhythm, texture and composition. The dark, dance oriented album taster, "Some Will Figure" also makes a welcome return here, this time taking its rightful place within the context of a conceptual album where even greater pleasure is derived from its former presence in splendid isolation.

With a body of work of which the Dutch maestros can be immensely proud, this is certainly not "The End" of Sed Project's combined talents.
