Reflections (the Balance)

Powerful chilling and tense relaxation - these are only apparent contradictions. For Saafi Brothers, they are essential ingredients for their 4th album Supernatural.

A smooth downtempo with dub and trance influences. This is what adds flavor, which in combination with guitar-like bass and electro-dub sound makes the album interesting in the field of psychedelic ambient music.

This album is perfect for the chill zones, with sliding pads, pleasant harmonies and haunting vocals. Dreamy, chiming trance music that glides effortlessly from the abstract 'High Moon' to the Krautrock-influenced 'Something Outside' and the drifting solar voyage of 'Under the Stars'. The occasional languid female vocal sample and the frequent use of vintage Moog sounds give these tranquil tracks a transporting quality that's almost hypnotic to welcome a new bright and optimictic morning.

Saafi Brothers takes us deeply into harmolodic, multifaceted, gentle and almost weightless tunes of their musical offering.

We are happy to announce that we are in the planning stages of an album with this wonderful Dub Techno and ambient artist, Takuya Morita. We are really looking forward to releasing the album: “Place of Solitude”.
While we are waiting for the album , Takuya has been so nice and provided us with this track, "Moment", to showcase on the compilation.  (not from the forthcoming album)
Will be releasing a full length album (CD/Digital) on UAE Records in 2016. Stay tuned!

We're proud to follow up our “Third Light” album with a companion selection of remixes entitled “The Light Within”, with the remixers hailing from across the globe *and* the bass music spectrum. The resultant ten-track collection is playful, spiritual and sensory, with upbeat tempos and slithering effects woven deep into the rhythmic pulses and dark undercurrents of our original tracks.

Bookended by uptempo versions of “Daylight Wasting” from International Observer and Berlin bassheads qnp, “The Light Within” features contemporary bass cuts from Portland’s Bodie and Christchurch’s Akcept, downtempo grooves by Argentinian dubsalon and South Korean mcthfg, dancefloor dubs from Mexico’s Tor.Ma in Dub and Brisbanite SUBSET, as well as drum and bass by Wellingtonian Zuke and the legendary UK producer Adrian Sherwood.

Contemplative but cheerful, either way, as “A Doubtful Sound” states, ‘The rhythm IS gonna get ya!’

The Light Within

The sound of the radio has always been an integral part of my musical experience. Growing up in the sprawling city of Los Angeles a lot of time is spent driving in the car, with the radio on. Switching from station to station trying to find the sounds you desire. Before portable audio devices this was the main way to listen to music, in the car as you rode the endless southern California boulevards. Latin radio, talk radio, commercials, station ids all coming through the radio dials. I tried to combine my love of radio with my love of the music of Vangelis; this is how ‘Lovers Radio’ came about. 
The track was remixed by The Orb who added some brilliant beats and samples taking the track to a place I could have never imagined. When I asked my friends to do some remixes from my album ‘Serenitay Infinitay’ many chose the track ‘Lovers Radio’  and I was very happy with the results. To have ambient legends like The Orb & Dr Atmo as well as good friends from the bay area underground Marshall Watson and Chlorophil do their own versions, was a dream come true.
