I know I shouldn’t be calling. I know you probably don’t even wanna hear my voice. But I—God, I don’t even know why I’m doing this. Maybe because pretending doesn’t work anymore. Maybe because I’m so damn tired of lying—to everyone, to myself.

They ask me how I’m doing, and I smile. I laugh. I say, ‘I’m good, man. I’m moving on.’ But the truth? The truth is I’m still waking up in the middle of the night reaching for you. The truth is, every time I hear someone say your name, it’s like a knife straight to the ribs. I tell myself I’m over it, but then I see something—some stupid little thing like the way the light hits the pavement after it rains—and I remember you. I remember us. 

You walked away, and I told myself I’d be fine. That I’d put myself back together, piece by piece. But what if you took something with you? What if there’s a part of me I’ll never get back?


I should hate you. God knows, I try. I try to be angry, to turn all this pain into something sharp, something that’ll cut you out of me for good. But even now, even after everything… I just miss you. And I hate myself for that.

So tell me—was it easy for you? Do you ever look back? Do you ever wonder if maybe, just maybe, you made a mistake? Or am I the only one still standing in the wreckage, waiting for something that’s never coming back?
