The original idea for the structure of Parting Road was to have 1 original song and 2 covers. However, it was decided in September of 2016 to choose this song to be the only cover on this project. Having previously written Shoulder, learning how to play this song in a rather simple way on an acoustic guitar was what gave birth to the idea of recording Parting Road.
