When I was a sweet little girl, I battled nightmares every night. Due to a voracious literary appetite fed by an uncanny imagination, shadowy figures would haunt my doorway and beckon. In the unknown horrors of the darkness, I’d forge escape routes, hand-crawl tunnels through the walls, and eventually fall into sleep, never with my back to the door… Like many of my favorite songs, ‘Dreamcatchers’ materialized out of mistakes. While practicing old-time tunes on my banjo, I stumbled on an eerie exception to the rules and followed it through uneven time signatures, spacey bass vibes, and occult oscillations between childhood dream-realities and supernatural kidnappings.
