LENSKE’s first release by Farrago, “Risin”, comes packing high velocity punches, including a collaboration with Amelie Lens and a remix from Kobosil. The EP’s A side is packed near 12 minutes of crisp machine driven techno with Farrago’s rattling peak-time “The Riddler” being the first to puncture. The title track, “Risin”, will only be released as the Kobosil remix, a titanium tour of auditory horrors, which also borrows from the EP’s other tracks. Lens’ signature sultry vocal samples on the B side’s “Jealousy” draw the contours of a jaw grinding banger, while “Hidden Power” rounds out the release with a blaring dance floor siren encased in exquisitely unpredictable arrangement. Drumcode starts 2020 with a sterling EP from genre hero Thomas Schumacher, his first on the label after a long association with Adam Beyer. No ifs or buts , if you’re a techno fan, Thomas Schumacher holds a place in your heart - his 1997 classic ‘When I Rock’ still gets rinsed today. Thomas has a vast body of stellar work on his influential former label Spielzeug Schallplatten, including a release from Adam Beyer, and he continues to deliver pin-sharp productions via his Electric Ballroom imprint, including a scorching remix of ‘The House of House’, the 1994 classic from Cherry Moon Trax. The rework was first played by Beyer at Time Warp and has been a 2019 highlight. 

He first contributed to Drumcode in 2018 with ‘The Unseen’, a stirring contribution to ‘A- Sides Vol.7’, setting up a maiden EP with ‘Crimson’. Beginning with the brilliant ‘Feist’, it’s a no-nonsense brain melter, as 303 arpeggios bloom and recede, creating a thrilling rhythmic intensity throughout. The title track ‘Crimson’ is crafted around two minutes of tension-building synths, before a beat finally appears and a rasping deep bassline commands the dancefloor. ‘Anker’ brings the rave with eagle -eye focus, unleashing a wall of fierce acid to round out the pack.

Adam Beyer returns with his first solo EP in five years.

The Drumcode founder is measured when it comes to signing music to his own imprint, biding his time till the stars align. His last individual outing was 2015’s ‘Stone Flower’ EP, which included the thrilling label favourite ‘What You Need’. A succession of classy collaborations followed, linking with DC’s most vital artists highlighted by ‘Your Mind’ with Bart Skils, proclaimed one of the best tracks of the last decade by Mixmag.

An EP that gives a nod to uncertain times, while remaining resolutely positive, ‘No Defeat No Retreat’ was written during Beyer’s fruitful production sessions during lockdown. The opening track, ‘Park People’ sets the pace with an energetic, 80’s new wave creating the track’s spine. Its hypnotic energy stems from a powerful synth riff and vocal sample culminating in a skilfully balanced track that neatly combines the old with the new. The title track is a study in contrasts, deftly crafting a muted, nagging vocal hook and infectious bassline into a slice of forward-facing, edgy techno. With its subtle, undulating layers of melody building in the background, it ushers in an understated sense of euphoria, making it a perfect end-of-set mood-maker. A thrilling return!

Amelie Lens has taken the techno scene to another level, with her unrelenting passion for the genre, with a strong message that she always was, and always will be a raver at heart.

Amelie‘s debut release in 2016 marked the beginning of her distinguished career. Since then, she has released music on many of the industry‘s leading labels and contributed to the prestigious Global Underground City mix series. Amelie is a regular headliner at major festivals such as Awakenings, Sonar, Timewarp, and Tomorrowland’s mainstage. Additionally, she performs at renowned club venues across the globe.

Fast forward to 2024 and Amelie is heading her labels Lenske and EXHALE Records, running her party series EXHALE, holds down an extensive touring schedule and hosts her own radio show. The show now streams online and broadcasts on 34 radio stations across the globe, reaching nearly 5 million listeners with every episode.

Amelie has been focused on her signature sound, emphasised by the use of her own vocals. She wants to capture audiences that may not always be there for techno but feel connected after discovering something new.
