Encounter --

Lo, what vision breaks upon mine eyes in twilight's breath?
A knight, clad in argent steel and solemn grace,
Sits 'midst a field of lilies pale, where silence holds its breath
And stars do linger in the firmament’s embrace.

His helm, sealed tight, hides visage, thought, and pain,
Yet posture speaks of wearied soul and shattered vow;
A gauntlet raised — not in defiance, but refrain,
As if to ask the void, "What now?"

Behind him looms a shade, not wrought of earth or flame,
A visage strange, of moonless hue and alien frame.
No devil of the pit, nor angel from on high,
But some cold watcher from a stranger sky.

What covenant is forged in hush’d communion there?
What fate entwines the armored son of war
With specters from a realm both bleak and bare,
Whose gaze doth pierce to man’s forgotten core?

Methinks this is not of sword and lance alone —
But of the soul, unhelmed, before the vast unknown.

In a twilight glade far from the ways of men,
Where lilies swayed like whispered memories
And the stars hung low in a hush of mourning,
There sat a lone knight of ancient fashion.

Mail-clad and mantle-draped, he bore the weary grace
Of one who had journeyed long through shadow and sorrow,
And now rested—yet not in peace.

His helm, wrought with the craft of forgotten forges,
Glinted faintly beneath the veiled heavens.
One gauntleted hand was lifted, not in threat,
But as if to feel the breath of some presence unseen—
Though not unfelt.
