Some truths cut too close. I don’t need them tonight.
I’m tired of people thinking they’re helping by telling me exactly how it is, as if I haven’t already been living inside those same sharp edges for months. Sometimes I don’t want clarity — I want softness. I want someone to sit next to me, look me in the eye, and make the world feel less heavy for just a little while, even if it means lying.
Tell me I’m pretty. Tell me I’m enough. Even if we both know I don’t believe it.
There’s a quiet in my head that turns to noise the second I’m alone. Thoughts rush in like floodwater and I can’t control where they go. I imagine you here, showing me how to move slower, how to sway without bracing for impact. I don’t know how to dance, but maybe you could teach me.
If you can’t fix me, then lie with me. Let me believe in something gentle before the night ends. Pretend, just for now, that the world isn’t as sharp as I know it is.
