The main themes were: 1). in 2007 I found a recording made by someone using John Cramer's 2003 sonic interpretation of temperature variation data from NASA's WMAP satellite to model a complete audio timeline of baryon acoustic oscillations creating a 5 hour sonic curve with a little clap at the beginning and then just a fuzzy tone, interestingly, going down in pitch until the present day, 5 hours (billions of years) later. Pretentious...moi? I sped it up to 13:48 from beginning to end and I put it in this "deep space" track. Most of it was inaudible by 20 seconds in, but i left it in anyway - so it's there, but it isn't.  And by the track's end, the song is in sync with present day's (then, 2007) radiation and with where I was at the time - trying to make art with Jonathan Goldman in his Spirit studio where half of what I was doing was pure intention and trying to transmit love through sound based on his simple equation Frequency & Intention = Healing. And 2.) Is there a place for music this bad?

Our guest in Hour 2 is Banks with his second appearance on Solid Steel and starts with one of two remixes for Ninja Tune. First up it's his transformation of The Keeper by Bonobo and then it's onto Deco Child, the excellent Anti-Pop Consortium from their album on Big Dada, before dropping his second remix which is a sublime rework of 'Lost where I belong' by Andreya Triana. The mix continues to flow with Modeselektor, Orbital from '94, Lusine and the collaboration between Four Tet, Burial and Thom Yorke. It's uptempo in the second half with Dauwd, another Bonobo remix, our guest in hour 1 Martyn and a remix for the Carl Craig classic 'At Les', before closing the show with his unreleased remix of 'Strong the root' by Lamb.

Golden Live 1/8/20 - One More Tune.....

Barcelona 2001.The police had left us to it on the beach for Sant Joan (festival of fire). Soundsystems lined the shore, but we'd managed to smuggle down a function 1 and were having the best of it. My cousin Digs (DiY) dropped into play. The house groove rolled on. At dawn we moved inside to a warehouse nearby. And from the there it was back to Dave's place. Not sure who Dave was, but he had a nice roof terrace. So I dug around in the record box trying to find dubs, edits or B sides to suit the rising sun. A few weeks later, someone gave me a tape of it. Apparently Dave had got himself organised with the C60s. So here it is. A rambling soundtrack to a hazy morning.

On April 29th Andy released 'Times and Places'. Over the last 15 years he has been writing this album on the road on tour with GA. From Airport Lounges / Hotel Rooms / Planes / Trains and an array of tour buses. The last two years saw Andy edit all these ideas into one beautiful album. Released through the legendary Apollo Records and R&S Records, on digital and limited edition hardback CD book. There will also be a cheeky vinyl announcement on the way but more of that to come. This is Groove Armada history.

Cato's Afterhours - Lock in at Dave's place (Barcelona)

A fan of all kinds of melodic, rhythmic, classic, indie and psychedelic electronic music. Growing up as a 90s kid, listening to trance music, I fell in love with how different instruments and euphoric sounds could be compiled together to give the mix an exquisitely elegant mood and ambience. It was Ferry Corsten's Album - Infinite Euphoria (2004) which was unique and heartfelt in the way how he takes you on a euphoric journey of all sounds Electronica. Using that as inspiration, my mission here is to deliver Concept Mixes taking you on hour long journeys. They will be versatile, not confined to one genre varying in character best suited to the concept.
