Right from the first Christmas my daughter Charlotte experienced, it was clear it was always going to be her favourite time of the year. She is now a beautiful young woman with a son of her own but this hasn’t changed her outlook in any way whatsoever.  She still expects lights, sparkles, bells and whistles, her response the same as it has always been - the biggest smile you have ever seen. 

Not being a religious family, we enjoy celebrating this time of year by simply  joining together to sing songs and play games, with Dad’s time-honoured jokes always eagerly anticipated (or so I tell myself).  When they were still young, I tried to make things extra special by filling the main living area with as many decorations as I could, even fitting lights to the outside of the house to add that extra slice of magic.  My own Mum & Dad always did the same and the memory of such magical times will always be with me.  The tradition now continues at their homes too, something I hope will last for many generations to come.     

Back in 2009, Charlotte asked me to write her a Christmas song.  Knowing how she felt, I will admit it did take me some time but wanted to make it a tune she would always recognise as hers. As far as a Dad can be, I’m sure she loves the song because every year, once the decorations are in place, I hear her singing it. 

Much of the credit must go to our good friend Arkestar.  This was the first song Gal and I shared with him and it exceeded our expectations many times over.  The backing track he produced was simply stunning - weeks and weeks of work going into the finished production.  At the time I was having a lot of medical problems with Trigeminal Neuralgia, a condition affecting facial and mouth movement, so hadn’t been able to sing properly for some time but with considerable help from my medication, managed to produce the kind of vocal I felt the song deserved. When I played the finished version to my family, hearing me sing again brought forth tears of joy from one and all. For that one reason it will always be a special song for us all. (Terry Reeves)

CREATING WITHIN A SINGLE GENRE, THEREFORE, RESULTS IN REGURGITATION, REPETITION, AND MEDIOCRITY!

And way too much emphasis is placed on production value; actual creativity and diversity are taking a back seat! Inventive lyrics also rarely get the credit they deserve. This indifference to the talents that actually set musicians apart plays into the hands of a money-minded music industry, signing our own death warrants!

Almost on a daily basis I am told by one Soundcloud user after another that my music is crap, that I have zero talent....what do you think? Are they right, or is it a case of sour grapes? And do you think I take it to heart :) No! What's heartbreaking for all of us is....WHEN NO ONE LISTENS!

SEVERAL MUSICIANS HAVE SUGGESTED I'M A IN A GENRE OF MY OWN, WHICH HAS TO BE THE ULTIMATE ACHIEVEMENT FOR A MUSICIAN!

MY APPROACH HAS ALWAYS BEEN, LET WHATEVER WANTS TO COME OUT, COME OUT; NO PLAN, NO BOUNDARIES, NO FORMULA, AND ON THE FLY! 

With so many people making music--literally tens of millions--there is a serious overcrowding problem, creating a wall of white noise; to stand out from that background, a musician must bring something very different to the table :)

HOPE THE DAY EVENTUALLY ARRIVES WHEN INNOVATION ONCE AGAIN REPLACES REGURGITATION, BUT, IN THE MEANTIME, IMITATION AND REGURGITATION CONTINUES TO GRAB THE AUDIENCE, WHICH IS BAD NEWS FOR THOSE OF US WHO INJECT OUR REAL PERSONALITIES INTO OUR TUNES :)

I COME FROM ONE OF THE MOST INSIGNIFICANT PLACES ON THE PLANET, CREWE! NO BAND OR MUSIC, OR ANY ARTIST REPRESENTING ANY OF THE ARTS, OF ANY SIGNIFICANCE EVER CAME FROM CREWE, AND I KIND OF LIKE THAT; A CREATIVE GIANT EVOLVING FROM A TOTALLY STERILE ENVIRONMENT :)
