Since 2004, Alin Crihan has been quietly crafting his skills in the fields of production and dj-ing. Debut releases came in early 2015 on labels such as Naural and Ultrastretch. Behind the decks you can catch him playing in lineups that include Petre Inspirescu, Raresh or Rhadoo but also warming up for Sammy Dee, Valentino Kanzyiani or Maayan Nidam.

Stefan Nicu aka Sublee, has long been heralded as one of Romania’s finest DJs. And in a country that’s become known the world over for its house and techno scene, that of course is no mean feat. Arguably at the busiest stage of his career right now, the Density Records boss is chatting to us off the back of a seriously busy summer, with gigs in Italy, Paris, Bucharest and many more behind him. Heavily influenced early in his career by international DJs such as Zip and Ricardo Villalobos, these days it’s Sublee himself who’s influencing an entire new generation. In the endless sea of producers and selectors, only a few leave a lasting impression. They are the niche artists, individuals that push sonic boundaries into new territory with skill, and purpose. Over the last 5 years Silat Beksi has made quite the impression on minimal music lovers across the globe by doing just that. Utilising his own unique combination of rhythms & special imprinted textures to craft emotive and energetically charged pieces of music. This was recognized early on with labels like Romaniaís Tzinah Records, Moscowís Body Parts and Ukranian imprint Mulen Records offering him a platform through which to release and refine his musical style. In 2014 this culminated in the release of Silat's first full length album, with ten wondrously diverse minimalist cuts seeing a digital release on Mulen. Having achieved this milestone, the talented producer dedicated himself to the perfection of his craft with a renewed determination, going vinyl only and launching his own imprint Modeight Records in 2016. Itís a label family that boasts some of the hottest new talent in minimal house and techno, giving rise to producers such as Germanyís Durrrred & Romanian young guns Dragutesku and RQZ. Their intuitive and forward thinking approach to minimalist music is creating sonic ripples throughout the global underground scene, challenging the existing boundaries of the genre once again.  

Fast forward to the present and Silat Beksi has amassed an enviable body of 12î releases on his journey so far. Cementing himself as one of the most inform talents in Europes underground scene with releases on labels like Germanyís almighty Pleasure Zone, Welsh imprint Dreams Are Not Inside, What You Want, Vivus Records and of course his own imprint Modeight. His sound continues to morph and develop, defying classification with it's heady combination of technoís rhythmic sensibility, breakbeat influence and warm atmospheric textures that hypnotise and excite.

In a time of economic collapse and political unrest, on 4 August, a massive explosion hit Beirut. A large part of the city became rubble and many lives were lost. Repairs of damage and response to tremendous needs on the ground continue to be overwhelming and insufficiently funded. While priority is given to immediate relief and reconstruction, those most vulnerable such as pregnant and lactating women, children, elderly, people with disabilities, etc have special needs which require dedicated attention. Essential work carried out by local NGOs that requires less investment and provides long term impact for those most excluded and vulnerable, remains underfunded and with winter here, the situation is of growing concern. 

Resources gathered will be distributed to local NGOs prioritising people most in need with a high potential of exclusion and discrimination. The projects chosen with support from Impact Lebanon, will aim at providing essential relief, restoring livelihoods and increasing the capacity of small businesses.

What about a world projected only in the mind of the creator? A world imagined with the sole purpose of not obiding the omnipresent sonic and musical intricacies. A world with no boundries, an infinite ocean of musical shapes and ideas where everything fuses gently into the horizon that spans forever. 

This metaphor was the original ideea that led romanian artists Cristi Cons and Vlad Caia to start their Amphia label. A name that makes you think of endless possibilities, music that morphs in ways they can only imagine. Like the lost world of Atlantis, Amphia is here to rediscover some of the lost artefacts of ancient electronic music using a very futuristic technique.
