(R)EVOLUTION: THE REMIXES encompasses fresh-off-the-desk reworkings from a full company of van Dyk’s fellow production studionauts.  Also included is the radio edit of “Such A Feeling” ft. Austin Leeds and vocalist Elijah King, a remake of the instrumental “Verano” that has never been available in North America before.  Leading the charge is the production brotherhood of Woody van Eyden and Alex M.O.R.P.H., who are respectively tasked with retakes of “Sun After Heartbreak” and “Such A Feeling.” Drawing on a wealth of harmonics, thermal synths and Sue McLaren's and Elijah King's vocal talents, they reposition PvD’s original versions in an entirely new light. 

Musical mutineers Kyau & Albert, Maarten De Jong and John O’Callaghan zoom in on some more big room aspects.  Their radical interpretations of “Open My Eyes,” “Symmetries” and “I Don’t Deserve You” respectively highlight drums, percussion and distortion that are altogether more atomic in nature.
 
Emphasizing both the popularity and musical latitude of the latter track, “I Don’t Deserve You” featuring vocalist Plumb gets two further reconfigurations. Having already been voted one of the 15 biggest trance songs of the year on Armin van Buuren’s ASOT radio show, “Deserve” gets some house flavor into its system.  Dubbing up the vocal, Gabriel Ben lets the hats hiss, the percs ride and the rhythms flow on his mix. Meanwhile, fellow American producer WAWA rolls in one big piano moment after another, inciting voracious uplift and fanning (R)EVOLUTION’s flames even further.  

“Naturally, the original versions of EVOLUTION’s tracks were my and my co-producers’ visions. To date, the singles have brought some wonderful, creative remixes with them--ones that blew me away when I heard them,” states Paul van Dyk.  “I played the tracks in clubs and on the radio throughout 2012. They were the seeds for this album and now is the right time to push the boundaries of EVOLUTION a bit further.”

Taking things momentarily deeper and more subversively progressive, the Directors Cut mix seizes on “Love Ammunition”’s lyrical metaphor.  Underpinned by a potent groove and sure-shot drop, Michelle Leonard’s vocals scorch the room. The album stays with her tones as Giuseppe Ottaviani takes control of “Lost In Berlin,” building it up into a mainline titan. 

With PvD’s full backing, other remix-revolutionaries are given free reign to take the music where they see fit.  Pedro del Mar & Double V rock up a storm on the Sue McLaren-vocalled/Arty-co-produced “The Sun After The Heartbreak.” Elsewhere, young-blood Uzbek producer Exense masterminds the “Rock This” rebuild. Tactically he whips it into a powder-keg progressive piece, holding back the pitch-bent synths and rousing shout to the break’s final precipice. Elsewhere, audio guerrillas like Niels von Ahorn, Robert Mint, Nick Callaghan & Will Atkinson and others perform coup after coup with eclectic, thrilling reworkings that build into the consummate EVOLUTION revision.

Ace Ventura is Yoni Oshrat - one of Israels biggest talents in electronic music, with a career on top of the scene, stretching for over a decade.

Already from an early age Yoni was heavily influenced with music. He was born in a musical family with his father being a famous Israeli composer and song writer (for instance behind the Eurovision song "Halelujah"), and it was therefore no surprise that he went for a career in the sound-business; at first in the TV and movie-industry as a sound producer.

After discovering the blooming trance-scene in the beginning of the nineties, he started DJ'ing and teamed up with his friend DJ Goblin to form the psychedelic trance project Children Of The Doc, which later changed name to PSYSEX. Together they released 3 critically-acclaimed full length albums on HOMmega Productons, and played a big part in establishing Israel as one of the most important trance-countries on the globe.

After several years of intense touring, playing at some of the biggest parties and festivals worldwide, Yoni's taste moved more and more towards the slower, groovier side of music though, and from 2006 he took the decision to leave the Psysex project and form the two soloprojects SCHATSI and ACE VENTURA. With Schatsi he was quickly featured on labels like Hadshot and Mylo's Breastfed Recordings, and top DJ's like John Digweed played some of his material on numerous occasions. More attention was put into the Ace Ventura project though, and using a fusion of the hard, pumping dancefloor-oriented style from Psysex and the deeper, groovier influences of progressive trance, the Ace Ventura project became a big success, and in a matter of just a few releases, such as the now classic debut "Cardiac Arrest", he was already considered among the top producers on the progressive trance scene.

After appearing on releases on labels like Flow, Domo, Echoes, Blue Tunes, Spintwist, HOMmega and Iboga Records he finally released his debut solo album "Rebirth" in 2007. It featured 9 tracks, including collaborations with Liquid Soul, Lish and Intelabeam, and was without a doubt one of the biggest releases of the year, which also resulted in Ace Ventura winning the Psytrance category at the Beatport Music Awards in 2008.

About one year later the album was followed by a remix-album "Re:Boot", which contained two CD's with remixes by various progressive trance, house, electro house and techno artists - from Zen Mechanics, Sensient and Liquid Soul to Perfect Stranger, Fiord and Duca. This release, together with the release of "The Spark", the summer anthem remix of FREq's "Short Life Again" as well as a collaboration with the upcoming Israeli duo Quantize, also resulted in Ace Ventura winning the Psytrance category at the Beatport Music Awards in 2009, For the second year in a row. Despite playing all around the globe, at major events from Boom in Portugal, XXXPerience, Tribe and Universo Paralello in Brazil, Solstice in Japan, Glade in the UK ,Ozora in Hungary to Indian Spirit, Tshitraka, Antaris and Full Moon in Germany, Yoni isn't resting on the laurels. Summer 2009 included the second chapter in his "New Order" compilation series on HOMmega Records. The first chapter from 2007 was a huge success, and this time around the tracks were deeper and more techno-oriented, and featured new material from artists like Ticon, Liquid Soul, Riktam & Bansi, Ido Ophir and Miki Litvak - all previously unreleased, and handpicked by Ace Ventura.

Another recent compilation was 'Digital beings', from Ace's second project 'Easy riders' (together with israely producer Rocky) which was released on Echoes records to great succes. Alongside Easy riders, another project to look for is 'Liquid Ace' - the exciting collaboration between Liquid soul & Ace ventura - having already released a few tracks on Iboga records, Liquid Ace is now playing massive back to back Dj sets across the globe.

Recent Ace ventura tracks which reached the number 1 spot at Beatport's psytrance chart were 'Baby boom', 'Sidewinder remix' & the Captain Hook remix to Ace's 'Genesis'. Other recent releases were the tracks 'In between','Dark matter', 'Judo Chop', 'Dr.Lupo', 'Digital beings' and remixes for Rocky ('Paper cut'), Liquid Soul ('Devotion'), MUte ('Mechanism') & Loud ('Subinya').

Still embracing the CD format, Two physical Ep's by Ace Ventura were released in the last year on Plusquam records - 'Connected' and 'The Jolly roger' - which featured remixes by Zen mechanics, Liquid soul, Symphonix & others.

These days work is underway on the debut Easy riders album, to be released soon on Echoes records, and of course on the long awaited second Ace ventura album, to be released on Iboga records by the end of 2011.

Once you get into a genuine music collective, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. Look at: The Amplidudes. When this likeable messed-up bunch of buddies realized that their social environment was not only pretty much party addicted and able to hold its drinks but also remarkably engaged into producing music, the idea to join forces was obvious.

The first pretty cool thing about this easy-going ass-kicking crew is a rather long list of different project names to drop, here we go: Hyperion, Optokoppler, Slackjoint, Imago, Psytrain, Tulk, Magoon, Bounder, J&B Project, Prahlad, Gameboy, Sensual Squeak, Organflow, Elecdruids, Capital Monkey & Temik.

As not only experts of the genre might have realized now, the Amplidudes pretty much take the line of powerful, boosting and intoxicating Psy Trance tunes while still also some inspiring Sunrise Sound and Progressive producers are included. Basically their musical approach is open towards the ever changing stream of contemporary music, as long as it aims the mind of the listener and creates some surreal and alien stuff going on inside there.

Since everyone who is anyone runs a label nowadays and since the Amplidudes are not only anyone but quite a cunning rat-pack, Amplidudes Records was just a logical step. Expect some solid party music being launched from here that never takes itself too serious because in the end it takes only one thing really serious:
