Tiago Granja a.k.a. Gahnah is a self-taught composer. He participated in several projects from rock to electronica and alternative. He composed for a couple of documentaries and movies, notably doing the soundtrack for SIC’s TV movie Anjo Caído (Jorge Ferreira da Costa), soundtracking and scoring Álvaro Romão’s documentary "A Pele", and composing the music for a TV spot for Associação Portuguesa de Apoio à Vítima (non-profit ONG supporting victims of crime and violence), and more recently the soundtrack for the short films "The Writer" ("A escritora") and "Mirror Mirror" ("Espelho meu") by director Hugo Pinto. Gahnah is a character Tiago made up. It’s an “electronic dog” releasing fleas full of Os and 1s, and hoping one day to be free and ownerless. That’s why it runs… it’s a stray dog but it doesn’t bite. It’s both rational and spiritual.

É racional e espiritual. Espiritualiza a razão e racionaliza a espiritualidade. Desse processo nascem os sons, os ruídos, os silêncios, as ondas e frequências, os ritmos, as melodias, a energia. Acredita que a música não é um efeito mas uma causa e por isso deixa-se compor pela música. Palavras que gosta e que repete: espírito, alma, intelecto, razão, causa, raiz, nascimento, origem, natureza, Deus, belo, ruído, silêncio, reencarnação.

I started listening to music in the 60's I was around 8 or 9 when The Beatles broke through and changed EVERYTHING. 
Motown was and is still a huge part of what I listen to now.
I moved up to Reggae and Dub, old school producers like Lee Scratch Perry, King Tubby and Niney Holness in the 70's.
Got a taste for Classical music, like Beethoven's  9th, Saint-Saëns and Wendy Carlos' electronic music around that time.
New stuff I listen to are Duffy, Adele, Elbow

I was a relative newbie to creating music, currently still self- learning music theory and how to get the best out of Image Line Studio 21
For 3 years upto 2012, I tried to create good music. Some of my early tracks are very poor but you gotta start somewhere.
For the biggest influence on my own creativity I would say Lee Perry and King Tubby, with the beautiful melodica sounds from Augustus Pablo.
Busy Works Beats had a lot to with me getting creative again.

For 5 or 6 years I had personal issues and never got near to being able to create much at all.
But those issues are resolved and near Isolation has meant I can go back and revisit the abandoned work. Some of which is on my youTube channel
