Celebrating Lunar New Year. The Year of the Wood Dragon: In the Chinese Zodiac, the wood element is paired with all years ending in 4 or 5 which mark periods of accelerated growth like a sapling pushing through the soil and rising toward the sky to become a towering tree. Spring is the season associated with wood, which is a time for renewal, change and rebirth. The Dragon is the most powerful sign of the Chinese zodiac. The dragon symbolizes power, strength, and good fortune and represents royalty (the Emperor), wisdom, and prosperity. Therefore, a Dragon year brings good fortune, power, passion, creativity and transformation.

Hi everyone!  Im happy to present to you my downtempo set from Astronox 2024 that Nick Sumbles was kind enough to let me play.  This set took place on Friday Oct 18th and was one of my favorite DT sets to date! Ecstatic Dance SLC 20th November 2024

The Moon is eclipsed in Pisces today, standing opposite the Sun in Virgo ~ pulling focus to the balance between spirit and form, surrender and precision, chaos and order.

Pisces invites us to dissolve, release, and merge with truth. Virgo is a reminder to discern, refine, and stay rooted in what truly matters. This cosmic mirror shows us where we’ve floated too far, and where we might be grasping too tightly.

This also happens to be my second round of Saturn return toooo! Saturn asks for discipline, accountability, and maturity, while Pisces pulls me toward faith in my heart’s wisdom. 

I feel this Blood Moon as both a closing tide and an opening gate ~ a time to release illusions to design a vision of a more aligned future.

For this mix, I chose selections that drift like water and dissolve like mist ~ paired with grounded, rhythmic textures that tether me to my heart and hips. Truly an encapsulation of the vastness of Pisces and the meticulous clarity of Virgo, held in the crucible of Saturn’s lessons.

P.S If you hear little skritchy scratches, those are my kittens trying to walk on the mixer. Wherever my hands are, that’s where they want to be too 😛

Hyped to share this new mix with you! This set was from last night @ Submerge in Santa Cruz, CA. I was thrilled by this opportunity to dive in on the deep end. An invitation to explore a more bass-forward and experimental side of my sound. Doubly pleased to have dropped this heavy wave for such a resonant and receptive community. I couldn't have asked for a better response. Now I am excited and curious for you all to listen. It's a vibe!

Amritaji (Amrit Dhillon) has been spinning psychedelic worldbeat and bass music since 2007. Coming from her roots in psytrance, she has spent over a decade and a half playing at electronic music events, festivals and Ecstatic Dances around the world. Her unique style of weaving the traditional music of Eastern and indigenous cultures with electronic bass and dance music started with her love for sonic-induced states of trance after practicing traditional Sanskrit Kirtan when she was in high school. A lifelong musician, Amritaji is passionate about blending traditional and modern music, giving her audiences a distinct sonic experience of deep bass lines, Eastern melodies and uplifting grooves. Her passion is for creating dance journeys to offer a sonic space for healing, free and authentic expression, and fun! She across the US and internationally. She currently live in London and is pursuing her Masters of Music in Ethnomusicology at SOAS, University of London.

Amritaji founded Ecstatic Dance Milwaukee in 2016. Between 2018-2025, she was a resident DJ and DJ trainer at Ecstatic Dance Salt Lake City. She is also a DJ trainer with Dance The Medicine. Amritaji has had mixes featured on Shanti Planti and Street Ritual Records.

Amritaji has performed on lineups with artists such as Desert Dwellers, Kalya Scintilla, Govinda, Kaminanda, Whitebear, Random Rab, SaQi, AtYya, An-Ten-Nae, WHYT RBBT Dimond Saints, and the Jumpsuit Records family.
