I have always loved music, but it wasn’t until I discovered Hip-Hop from the 90´s and all of the music that is connected with this genre via sampling that I really began to dig deeper.

I started playing the drums, and produced my first beats on a MPC. I played Funk, Soul and Hip-Hop DJ sets but never could identify myself completely within a genre. It is why I fell in love with Downtempo music. I loved that you could combine so many different styles and genres in this music and I felt like I could really grow as an artist in this genre for a long time.

My appreciation for so many different styles of music still influences me today, I alway try to push the border between genres so I don’t close myself off from new possibilities.

Therefore I am very happy to have RA SUAINE as the cover artist for this Ep.

RoRo - Don't Make Me Think

The artist known as Memory Lake is a close friend of mine and a hell of a dancer. When he sent the first version of this track to me I got so excited I immediately asked if he wanted to co produce it with me. He said yes and the rest is musical history. The track is based on a poem written by Jewel Mathieson and is voiced by Naomi Runa.

Sounom & Sagou, two Dutch based producers, have a big love for melodic techno and progressive house and they are always trying to explore new horizons.

For the last couple of years they were monthly residents at the HeavensGate Deep Show on www.di.fm in which they played a one-hour-mix themselves accompanied by a guest mix by dj's like Guy J, Paul Hazendonk, Ingo Vogelmann, Steve Parry, Estroe and Hernan Cattaneo.

Releases were on Modern Agenda, Or Two Strangers, Manual Music, MNL, Cinematique, Kamarad Meyer Musik, Variety Music, White Label Recordings and many more, and they were supported by Hernan Cattaneo, Eelke Kleijn, Jamie Stevens, Gai Barone and others.
They have worked together with artists like Tim Engelhardt, Kamilo Sanclemente, Golan Zocher, Boss Axis, Mr.MNT, Dustin Nantais, Danny Lloyd, East Cafe, Mario Hammer and Juliane Wolf.

Den Künstler für die 119 hab ich schon seit langem ins Auge gefasst für meine Reihe. Doch bisher hatte es sich immer nicht so richtig ergeben. Nun sind wir uns schon öfters über den Weg gelaufen und er hat auch bei unserer letzten Afterhour Sounds VA im Beate Uwe ein wunderbares Set für uns gespielt. Irgendwann dort haben wir es dann auch geschafft mal einen Termin zu fixieren.

Die Rede ist von Dahu … von dessen Sound ich ein sehr großer Fan bin. Sowohl seine grandiosen und eigenwillige Produktion als auch sein Wirken als DJ haben immer diese Tendenz zum Perfektionismus … die auch immer wieder meine Antriebsfeder ist. Haha auch wenn einem diese hin und wieder ganz schön im Weg stehen kann.

Dieses Set bedeutet mir tatsächlich sehr sehr viel … da es meine Musikgeschmack wie ganz wenige wiederspiegeln. Diese fantastische Mischung aus Melodien, Druck, Düsterheit und Verspieltheit bringt es einfach genau auf den Punkt. Und trotz der Melancholie ist es doch auch wieder positiv.  

Philipp es ist mir eine ganz große Freude und Ehre dich in meiner Reihe mit diesem für mich ganz besonderem Set zu wissen. Und nun liebe Hörer bin ich mal gespannt wie es euch gefällt … Musik ist ja auch immer eine Geschmack Sache.
