The quintet An Cat Dubh (Gaelic: the black cat) from Darmstadt brings the joy of the Irish pubs, the strength and melancholy of the sailors and the romanticism of the Celtic ballads onto the stage. Since their founding in 1992, the band has played overall around 500 live concerts inland and abroad an released eigth recordings.

With their own interpretation of classics from the traditional Irish and Scottish folk music, they give the songs a new, modern garment without denying their origins. Under the musical banner Celtic Folk Rock, An Cat Dubh thereby create a program bursting with joy of playing. Drums, guitars and bass increase the musical pulse and the instruments bodhrán, flute, mandolin and also clarinet and accordion complete the sound. The band convinces with numerous a capella pieces and perfectly arranged own compositions which invite you to dance. A key feature of An Cat Dubh is the rough and powerful voice of singer Daniel Zimbrich which can radiate maritime wildness in shanties and in the next moment can present a soulful ballad.
