Germany’s Tilman inaugurates his new imprint Pleasant Systems this June with the ‘Adventures’ EP, featuring collaborations with Will Buck and Rhode & Brown. Mainz, Germany based producer and DJ Tilman has been dropping his twist on contemporary house over the past decade on labels such as Shall Not Fade, Life Is For Living and Quality Vibes as well as his own Fine imprint, run in collaboration with Johannes Albert. Here though, Tilman marks a new beginning with the launch of Pleasant Systems, a new imprint designed to shine a light on vintage inspired house sounds from both himself and friends. Up first is ‘What’s Mine Is Mine’, a collaboration with Brooklyn’s Will Buck which lays down an amalgamation of airy synth pads, choppy bass stabs, bright piano lines and enchanting flute like melodies atop a swinging drum groove. ‘Strawberry Fields’ follows, stripping things back to shuffled percussion, billowing ethereal textures and wandering sub bass tones while fluttering brass tones and resonant leads ebb and flow within. ‘Velvet Park’ opens the flip side, this time joining forces with Rhode & Brown, embracing a classic sound with raw crunchy drums, delayed piano chords, bumpy bass stabs, cinematic strings and brass hooks throughout. ‘Lovin'’ then rounds out the release, dropping the tempo, featuring the voice of Tilman himself and laying focus on off-kilter organic percussion, twinkling resonant tones, eighties tinged synth chords and g funk moog style bass to perfectly conclude Pleasant System’s debut...

Already a known name in the world of deep house for over two decades Kevin Yost is an artist that anyone familiar with the genre should know. Getting his start in music as a young child his passion for electronic music would eventually lead to a string of releases on the legendary i! Records imprint based out of New Jersey. Continuing to build his catalog and travel around the world, he made a solid name for himself in the world of house music with continued output on i! Records and recent remixes on labels such as Moon Harbour.

Starting the year off on Leena with Don’t Give In, Kevin delivers three strong tracks for the deeper moods in a night. Toying slightly with different sounds than his usual standard deep house style, he brings a modern approach to a classic sound that shows he is an artist who isn’t afraid to roll with the changes of time but still keep the same vibe that made him so well respected to begin with.

The DJ and producer from Cantabria comes back into the picture with this ‘Seconds of light’, which is released on his own Seven Villas Music. Bolívar goes deeper and deeper into velvet soul Deep-house, with a dreamy touch which is especially present in the track which names the EP. Therefore, it counts on a soft groove and an inherent club vibe which makes it perfect for summer sophisticated sets, or even for listening on one’s ‘me’ time.
Simón García’s remix of ‘Seconds of light’ darkens up the original, giving it an extra push of strong kick in order to take it to the late hours and the vibrating underground dance floor.
‘All Clear’ is under El Txef_a’s approach, a modular, cosmic and disco kraut-rock space trip, with an acid reminiscence. Illustrated escapism which does not forget about the dance floor.
‘Leaves without shadows’ was a track which was originally included in Bolivar’s last compilation ‘The Obscure Figure’, also released in Seven Villas. Pablo enjoys this time the collaboration of Upercent from Valencia, and also includes a remix by Berlin’s duo youANDme. Deep but rhythmic, almost martial tech-house, which is as well danceable
and in constant emotional progression.
