Straight from the underground scene of Buenos Aires, sonic explorer Cris Ummi @cris-ummi lands on Techenie with his latest release: The Pres Tapes EP — a bold, analog-driven statement of raw minimalism and experimental spirit. Inspired by the Experimental Studio of Polish Radio, this 4-track EP channels the dusty character of early cassette recordings, loaded with vintage textures, gritty atmospheres that echoes through every groove. Its deep, dirty, and utterly hypnotic. The journey is further elevated with two standout remixes from minimal veterans Eddi Shkiper @eddi-shkiper and .JIMi. , who each rework the originals into masterfully stripped-down weapons for the more discerning dancefloors. A must-hear for fans of authentic minimal techno with character, history, and bite.

‘Tunnels’ begins with a flurry of drums before being enveloped by sub-bass pressure, like stepping directly into a basement club in full flow. As the track climaxes, saxophones sweep the air like green-spoked lasers overhead, creating a contrast of pinpoint clarity against the background atmosphere. Though sonically well outside Bristol’s dubstep legacy, it accurately portrays the smudged perception of a peak time rave. On the flip, we find the more introverted 'First Light', wherein the group downshift from the buzz of a bustling room to the hum of one’s head as dawn breaks. It is a moment of spacious solitude shared only, as Cunningham pictures it, with “swans fighting over polystyrene chip boxes” in the canal below.

Introductory track, ‘Front’, slips into a timeless vortex filtered thru lightly painted hi-hats that tick toward unconsciousness for individuals with heavy eyes and lethargic minds. COMPUTER DATA balances the track with muddled kicks, overcast vocals that dispel into the wind and melodies that swoon into the gradient sky like streaks of meteor showers falling from the stars. Hazy and dreamy.
