Claptone’s ‘Fantast’ album receives three remixes from Kittball boss Juliet Sikora, Exploited regular Martin Waslewski and Toolroom’s Weiss.
The summer of 2018 was a remarkable one for Claptone, with the release of his acclaimed second album ‘Fantast’ and its accompanying non-stop world tour which further established him amongst the electronic music royalty. Since then the mysterious masked enigma’s album has received a collection of remixes from a variety of esteemed artists, including Eagles & Butterflies, Super Flu, Franky Rizardo, Nice7, Patrice Bäumel and Simion.
Next up, three more respected artists provide renditions of their own. Currently touring alongside Claptone, Weiss is known for releases on labels like This Ain’t Bristol, Kaluki and Dirtybird. His take on ‘Cruising (So They Say)’ incorporates silky drums layered above a submerged bassline and infectious piano chords
Dortmund native and Beatport chart topper Juliet Sikora is next with a remix of ‘Alone’. Following releases on Green Velvet’s Cajual and Relief, the Kittball label head develops shining synths into vivacious drum grooves under repetitious chants. Tying it altogether, Martin Waslewski interprets ‘A Waiting Game’ with deep undulating chords that march amidst enveloping buzzy arpeggios.

One of the most talked about remixes of 2019 gets an official release as Camille Luciani’s stunning rework of The Temper Trap’s 2008 global hit ’Sweet Disposition’ comes out on Renaissance Records / BMG on 13 December. 

Camille Luciani, one of France’s brightest new dance talents, creates a stirring and highly atmospheric update of the Australian indie rock outfit’s seminal 2008 anthem, which has achieved cult status in recent years, featuring in the film ‘(500) Days of Summer’ and clocking over 260 million streams on Spotify alone. 

“I’d been a fan of the band for more than 10 years”, explains Camille, “Their music was always there for me; one day I just decided to give them something in return and chose Sweet Disposition, which is a timeless track that I always wanted to bring my vision to. So, initially it was more for fun than an official release. It was only after sending it to Dougy and Lorenzo - the band themselves - that things began to develop. I’m delighted it’s now getting an official release.” 

The remix takes the listener on an emotional journey, emphasising the brooding percussion alongside clever layering of the blissful vocal. The poignant piano refrain and swirling, intense beats result in a beautiful, yet powerful reinvention, perfect for peak-time dance-floors, which has already received many ID requests on social media. Major support has come from globally-renowned duo Tale Of Us who have played it as their closing track on many of the world’s biggest stages, including Printworks London, Gashouder Amsterdam and Ushuaïa Ibiza, each time receiving a euphoric, ‘hands in the air’ crowd reaction.

Mind Against are back on Afterlife with two emotive, dancefloor masterpieces. ‘Walking Away’, featuring the deeply-affecting vocals of Port St. Willow, centers around uplifting harmonic elements and a resonant drum pattern. It strikes that special balance of light and dark which makes Mind Against’s tracks uniquely cathartic. ‘Bloom’ is more a melancholy, downtempo interpretation of their vision. The percussion is restrained and sits deep below atmospheric pads and piano chords, eventually arriving at a gradual and subtle peak. Although it's not possible to be with all of you at the moment, we're still able to communicate through our music. We are delighted to share our new Song 'Home' with you, a collective effort from Delhia de France, Marino Canal and us.

As Marino had multiple appearances on Siamese Records like 'A Fire in the Sun' or 'Dreamt of Tomorrow' and we've already worked successfully with Delhia de France in the past on 'Tachykardia' from our debut album 'Nude' as well as our much-loved remix for her track 'Tremors :Nemesis', it seemed inevitable to work on a track all together.

Delhia had originally written 'Home' as a song creating an ambiance that beautifully resembles the feeling of stillness. "It's about someone scared of true intimacy running away from themself, but being seen by the other person who is offering a safe space, a home in the moment. With what we are is experiencing right now, many people are faced with a sudden stillness and it's hard for a lot of us to deal with it. Being forced to really be with oneself, in solitude" Delhia says.

The world hit pause and we had to re-evaluate our patterns of behavior, re-think life, re-appreciate the things that, too often, go unnoticed and most of all face our own fears. It could teach us that the true home lies in the moment. It's the safest place to be, where no fear exists, as there is no need for the past nor the future.
