We are excited to announce a full length album (2x12”) by key Cititrax artist Broken English Club​. After the strong reception of his split EP with Silent Servant (Official)​, solo work for both Cititrax and Jealous God, and recent feature on the Cititrax: Tracks Volume One EP, oliver ho​ (also known for his Raudive​ alias) expands upon the themes in his earlier output. Now though, he is presenting Broken English Club as the multifaceted project that it is. He fearlessly exposes a range of emotion through varying sound, texture and song structure. The result is a manifestation of his influences (post punk, noise, techno, grindcore) melded into his own unique vision and culminating in an album that sounds absolutely massive, both on and off the dance floor. About Broken English Club, in Oliver’s own words:
“It’s not about some idea of the future, it’s about a grubbier seedier world. There's no superior technology here, there’s a romance to damp concrete buildings and abandoned reservoirs. Somewhere in the nursing homes that smell of bleach and piss, under the jaundice yellow glow of street lights, there’s a dark soul. I like music with a sense of dread, there’s drama or suspense in that feeling somewhere.
I am fueled by the energy and noise of 1980’s grindcore. The track 'Scum' is a tribute to the Napalm Death song of the same name. Those kind of brutalist noise bands are a very English thing to me, the oblivion of that is romantic.
I am fascinated and disgusted by things, and I like that friction. The best things in life seem perverted and disgusting at first and then become beautiful and transcendent.
I have these ideas filling my head and it gives me a sense purpose, I owe it to these obsessions of mine to see them through, to give them a place to exist. That’s Broken English Club. “
This album will be pressed on 160 gram splattered black and clear double vinyl limited to 999 copies, housed in a heavy weight high gloss sleeve, featuring art direction by Veronica Vasicka​ and Silent Servant with photography by Corinne Schiavone. Broken English Club’s Suburban Hunting 2x12” will be released in late November. Digital release to follow.

Kj Sawka & Miss Krystle - Right Movement (Original mix)- [FREE DL] IMPOSSIBLE RECORDS

Blankstairs is pleased to announce the release of 'Pathfinder', the latest record from Washington State resident Archivist. 'Pathfinder' is Archivist's second release on Blankstairs, following 2015's  'Migration', which Impose Magazine celebrated as offering listeners “the possibility of transcendence.” Archivist's new record is no different, featuring three original deep techno tracks along with a remix by Bunker NY resident Eric Cloutier. With 'Pathfinder', Archivist shows himself to be one of the West Coast's most intense and interesting techno producers.

Opening the record is “Klamath”, which rises gently out of the darkness before overtaking the listener with its percussive power. Channeling the Washington landscape, the track is a rich and hypnotic ride that flows like a landslide before finally returning to a state of rest. 'A Rogue Moon' is a ghostly trip down shadowed trails, as euphonic echoes and esoteric strings find space in the tracks cavernous kicks, making it perfect for late nights and early mornings.

The second side features two takes of the title track 'Pathfinder'. The original version shows Archivist's ability to temper a peak time tune, with rolling rhythms and cacophonous stabs of chords that boulder over the listener, leaving little left in its wake. Eric Cloutier closes the EP by rebuilding 'Pathfinder' into a clean, cutting cleaver, proving that Cloutier is just as powerful as a producer as he is a DJ.

BST014 will be released in 12" and Digital formats on February 19th, 2016.

"Farewell" is worldwide debut album of Taiwanese female fronted chamber ensemble Cicada who played with Olafur Arnalds, Rachel Grimes, Balmorhea.
“Farewell” described how someone who went through the cycle of a relationship. It’s about breakup, facing the future alone and also reveals the teenage girls inside us. Cicada selected 14 songs from “Over the Sea /Under the Water”, “Pieces”, and “Let’s Go” With the new recording and production, together they told a story.

Anodyne needs no further introduction, the Skam fiends among you may remember his name since the 'Save A Prayer' remix on Mask 500 some years ago or listening to Rob Hall playin’ his tunes systematically. Besides Skam Colin has released a slew of records on Combat Recordings, Yellow Machines or Acroplane and some of his tracks have been remixed by his personal heroes such as Autechre, Plaid, The Black Dog or Funckarma among others. We're very pleased to bring you the new stuff. 

“Nothing Lasts EP” deals 3 tracks of abstract electro/IDM, hearkening you back to classics from Gescom and early Ae. Solid breaks and sky-scanning esoteric synthlines sure to elicit a shiver of melancholy and emotive nostalgia. Anodyne put a lot of thought and attention-to-detail in his music and draw on influences outside of the standard Detroit/Kraftwerk axis in order to make their music distinctive from others, check it out. 

Closing the EP, probably one the most exciting dancefloor weapon left on the Skam books, Manchester’s Mr76ix, relaxes tension turning ‘Reflections of a Broken Soul’ into a deep acid mutation, sprinkling sweet playful melodies in a shiny Windowlicker-styled 4/4 feel.

After appearing alongside Clint Mansell and Philip Glass on the soundtrack for Park Chan-Wook's recent psychological thriller Stoker, Emily Wells prepares to release her latest album and single.

Album ‘Mama’ (out June 3rd via Partisan) combines subtle hip-hop inflections and wide-ranging sounds with Emily’s distinctive feline vocals, creating a record that is simultaneously light & delicate with a bold punch of personality.

Contrasting with the heavy layering and electronics of the original, the European version of ‘Mama’ sees Wells re-imagining the entire record acoustically for a second disc and mirror version. These fresh renditions of an already unique record are stunningly austere, recorded solely with voice and guitar. Emily Wells has stripped off her own armour, leaving only her crystalline voice and equally unambiguous songwriting on display.

String-laden single ‘Passenger’ is released on April 29th. Its noir-ish tone is cinematic in its scope - a song that becomes a real focal point of Mama.

From the start of her career, Wells’ musical interests were simply too wide ranging for just one instrument. Trained as a classical violinist, the Texan soon created her own sonic “spaceship,” an ever-growing pulsating arsenal of synthesizers, effects pedals and toy instruments, all tied together with live sampling and a genre-agnostic approach that is diverse, distinctive, and utterly her own. Honing her sound on a series of independent releases, including an acclaimed cover of The Notorious B.I.G.’s classic ‘Juicy’, it was these initial glimpses and the countless live dates both as bandleader and solo performer that carved out the musician she has become today.

The female singer-songwriter stable may be packed with unique voices and varying degrees of talent, but Emily Wells is an artist whose innate complexities lift her out of that particular stable and into a realm all of her own.
