In December 2013 Lettuce was finishing up what was by all accounts there most fruitful and successful year too date.  They were all gathered in their defacto hometown of  Brooklyn for a week long run at Brooklyn Bowl and their last show of the year at the Capitol Theater. 

Never ones to waste a moment, Lettuce took their time together in December in between shows to record two new original tracks, “Don’t Be Afraid To Try”, which features vocalist Alecia Chakour, and “Yakitori”.  “Don’t Be Afraid To Try” is sure to be a Lettuce staple for years to come, seamlessly blending the Lettuce sound with timeless R&B vocals.  Alecia is currently touring with the band and fitting in perfectly.  “Yakitori” is classic hard-tiiing instrumental Lettuce at its best.  This is the sound that fans have come to expect from the band and “Yakitori” shows that the direction of the bands sound is still pushing funk to new heights!

Lettuce is offering these two singles for FREE through their soundcloud and on limited edition 7 in vinyl.  You can pre-order the vinyl HERE.  The tracks are also up on iTunes now.

It was a special year for the Lettuce collective in which they played huge dates at Bonnaroo, Summer Camp, the Fillmores in Denver and San Francisco and made it to a ton of cities for the first time, always met by eager fans new and old.  Lettuce Spring tour starts tonight at the Roxy in LA and rolls on through April 6.  The band then will celebrate Jazzfest at their Annual Royal Family Ball before a monster schedule of high profile festival appearances.

BBP Recordings is very excited to welcome back the Spanish funky b-boy producer Calagad13 with a minddropin’ EP, which is guaranteed to set all dancefloors on fire across the planet. Teaming up with nu-funk heavyweight producers like Slynk (Good Groove, Manmade, Jalapeno) and Kid Stretch (Good Groove, BigM, Warriorz, Dominance) this can only result in one thing: “Pure Party BOMBS”!

What a perfect start of the New Year, to drop the second 12” vinyl on BBP Recordings. Calagad13 is no stranger to BBP with his killer remixes on Basement Freaks – Jam in The Jungle EP (BBP022) and Hayz – Rhyme Assassin EP (BBP017) and Pale the Kid – Work That Sucker EP (BBP018). Calagad13 knows the exact recipe to get a party started, from his b-boy 12” releases on Fresh Kingdom and Nu-Funk EP release on AGFA’s Funk Weapons. Banging beats, chopped up samples, world-class production skills with a rude street-feel is what you can expect from this hot 12”.
As a bonus on the 12”, Calagad13’s partner producer Javier Morillas is giving us the straight funky killer mashup tune Krazy. 
  
A1. The title tune “I Can Make You Dance” original shows to perfection how to bring on a funky party as Calagad13 slams on some classic funky breaks, some groovy raps and chopped up samples. This is a must-have for all funky djs out there!  

A2. Kid Stretch returns to BBP to deliver another of his signature oldskool funky disco remixes. The Kid Stretch remix of “I Can Make You Dance” is bound to bring the ladies on the floor to get down to the smooth disco grooves. 

A3. Javier Morillas pumps up the funky disco with this absolutely groovy mashup tune which leaves you very little chance to sit still.     

B1. The party grooves continue on the flip-side with the intense funky banger “Back to the Power”. JB style vocals, heavy bass and straight on banging beat is all it takes for Calagad13 to set the floors on fire and show that he surely is “one-to-watch” in the funky breaks scene in the years to come.

B2. Australia’s top nu funk producer Slynk is here to end this 12” with style!  Slynk brings “Back to the Power” into the nu skool with his upbeat electro remix. Taking all the finest elements of the original and twisting it into a completely new style – how can a remix be any better than this?
