Hugely inspired by Flying Lotus' latest record "Your'e Dead!", I wanted to hear the sounds of 'Siren Song' being placed in another context. I took the vocals form Angel Deradoori and sampled a few bass, fx and harmonical parts to create my own version. Enjoy!

FZPZ’s Hidden Personas is a poetic dichotomy of traditional and modern, classical and electronic, cultural and ethnic. It is also an apex of maturity, culture, and inspiration. Even the titles illustrate an episodic narrative, each a distinct persona and trait of the artist, revealed while on a personal journey of self-discovery.

This new resonance draws influences from 70s Soul, Neo-Soul, Jazz and even classical. The distinct orchestral soundscape is a significant dissonance from the usual microwave and throwaway beats, which also reflects his current influences of Phyllis Hyman, Miles Davis, and you hear a lot of Yutaka in “Swordsman”. Hidden Personas is executed with sophisticated dexterity, a clear indication of a new direction forward for FZPZ.

QSTN (“QUESTION”) is a Southern California beatmaker and DJ. Drawing from his extensive vinyl collection, QSTN fuses obscure funk, soul, and jazz breaks with heavy beats and live instrumentation, crafting a sound that pays homage to the golden era of hip hop.

His music has been featured on notable labels like Chillhop Music and Mark Farina’s iconic Mushroom Jazz series, earning recognition from tastemakers such as OkayPlayer, Giant Step Records, and Vice’s Noisey. Recently, QSTN was featured in the book DUST & GROOVES VOL. 2, a sequel to the original release that highlighted the world’s most fascinating and accomplished vinyl collectors, with the likes of Questlove, and Gilles Peterson to name a few.
