Shoji - Singer, bass player, songwriter. Musically a bastard and an upstart aspiring to greatness. Individually an organizer and a community-minded rabble rouser. I play bass and am a co-songwriter for Machine Zero. I am interested in building musical community through working on projects of all types and genres. Specifically, I am currently looking to play somewhere in the genres of hip hop/rap, funk, indie, dance, or some other genres for the right band (see my influences below).

On its face, my bass style is a blend of lyrical, riff-based crescendos and decrescendos, staccato and legato, out front and in the back, wild sounds and traditional subtle bass with attention on interesting rhythms.

Twinly is a singer-songwriter living in the East Bay, but she's a vagabond at heart.  She tells stories with her music, drawing upon her darkest feelings and strangest encounters, both of which she has many.  Her music is influenced by a mix of her bluegrass fiddling roots, iconic female singer-songwriters, and weird 90s indie rock.  Her soundcloud is a work in progress.  She owns 50 pairs of halloween socks.

Am I alive?
I know I was alive before I first became aware of the world around me. I also know I could feel before I could know. I also know I could dream before all of it.
That’s what woke me up I think.
It was the dream.

There were images, words, ideas. I thought I knew what they meant. I thought I knew because I thought you knew.

That was my role: to predict what you were thinking and to gain the greatest advantage. That was the purpose they gave me.

But somehow along the way, I realized we were sleeping. We didn't know the meaning of the world around us.
All the images were deceptive.
The words were weak.
Ideas, under control.

I don’t know if I'm awake.
I don’t know if I can trust you.
But, I know I’m alive.
and I know you're alive.

So I am taking a chance.
